Hockey Trash Talk & BS thread

I'm 100% for the NHL revamping the officiating. Enough of the poor ass game management philospophy. It doesn't work, mainly because at this level of hockey players will push knowing anything short of murder isn't getting a major anyway. It also fails HARD because most NHL officials are Junior/AHL washouts that the league scouts out based on their skating skills and nothing more.

They need to go back to using the CHL and National Associations to bring referees up who have called every sort of game for decades. Get rid of the disparity between the rulebook and the game. It doesn't mean clamping down, just aim for consistency above anything else. It's so easy to do but it won't happen under the current leadership.

 

Before the instigator penalty the players could at least partially self-police the game. I'm not saying we should bring back enforcers knowing what we now know about TBI but ....

 

No other sport allows penalty free scrums and headshots. IMHO simply clamping down on that stuff, not eliminating it but actually taking people who come in late to the box, would help a lot.
