Hockey Trash Talk & BS thread

I do--or I did (ice). Been having knee problems lately. I have also ref'd.

 

I used to play street hockey, as a goalie. It was fun.

 

I do/did too. I would play more often but ice time here in Texas isn't cheap, after having 2 kids my finances are dwindled down. I love to play but it cost some serious money for a 10 game season 4 times a year. I try to play at least one season and then as a sub every now and then when I can't afford it.

 

I get ice time 2x's a week. Fridays & Sundays. Rink is 5 min from my house... Cant wait for September!

 

how much is ice?

 

I play twice a week,all year, Wednesday & Friday mornings at 7am. I sometimes sub in a men's league. I used to play inline also but they ripped up the rink to put in basketball courts

If I play in the Adult beginners league (which I have to save money) it is $240, but otherwise it is $450.

 

In the one league I play in we pay $400 and that gets us 34 regular season games. We pay about $10 per game for playoffs which covers ice and refs.

 

A-D Leagues play 20 games + playoffs (2 rounds, best of 3 round 2) = $450

I League plays 12 weeks, depends on how many teams there are, but varies between 7-10 games and then practices they other weeks + playoffs (2 single game rounds) = $240

 

Hell maybe ours isn't more expensive, I just always assumed it was. For 4 seasons at either price is $1000-$2000 a year, too much for me!

Like I said a few posts back, maybe I'm the cheap one, but $1-2k per year is too much for me.

 

Just curious, what do you north of the border'ers pay for a year of hockey?

 

my hockey is free but minor hockey is expensive.

 

Oh yeah, you guys just walk outside and there is ice everywhere .

Why is yours free, do you play with a minor league team, or work at a rink?

Last if yours is free, then mine can't be cheap?

 

Playing is usually about $500 around here for a "season". 18 games. Here is SJC.

 

mine is free because i play junior hockey. i say yours is cheap because my minor hockey used to be a couple grand but we had way more ice times than you guys.
