I'm not sure how the NHLPA , Burke and the Flames can actually believe themselves when they keep repeating that Wideman's crosscheck to the linesman was " a collision " , and that the 20 game suspension is so terribly wrong .

I mean I get it , I know they publicly gotta side with their guy but c'mon .

I guess I should of eloborated. If you've read the transcripts from conversations where Burke has been involved in something like this you'd realise he just takes whichever side benefits him directly. As he should. Then he gets vocal. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes on a rant with the Fan 960 within a week about it.

No one expected Bettman to reduce the suspension, it was always going to a neutral arbitrator. With the NHL dragging out the process what are they supposed to do?

 

I didn't expect Bettman to reduce it either , my point being , how can they still alledge that it was just a " collision " still , I mean anybody can see its a deliberate crosscheck

 

Because it would be foolish to suddenly change their story before going to a neutral arbitrator.

 

It's like hoping that if you tell a lie enough times it will become the truth
