Tough call. Really you can't actively see the puck cross the line. I'm not sure what the NHL rulebook says on this but if it says anything about being able to see the puck cross the line then it's the right call.

There is a difference between seeing the puck cross the line and seeing the puck just across the line after the goalie gets up. Unfortunately you can't always tell the positing of the puck when the play was blown dead from its final position after the goalie gets up. I'm sure the call in Toronto took so long because it wasn't unanimous. I remember a similar play in the Olympics in 2004 being called a goal for Canada against the Czechs.

At the end of the day the no goal call was probably made because that was the call on the ice and Toronto didn't feel they were 100 percent sure the puck was in the position across the line when the play was blown down.Toronto can't over turn the call unless the war room refs are sure it's a goal.

 

Yeah the regular guy is great. Chicago definitely has the best anthem experience in the league.

 

I think this is the NHL war room explanation. The Refs on the ice couldn't tell when the puck crossed the line and had blown the play dead before they saw the puck in the net. They were asking the war room if they could determine when the puck crossed. Unfortunately for the Sabres you can see it clearly in the net after the goalie moves but not before then. I think the ref deserves some criticism in this case because he should have been on the back of the net. You can see two Sabres players behind the net and they can see the puck, they point at it. Perhaps if the ref had been in position the call would have gone differently.

 

Just a heads up to anyone who watches or listens to TSN, buddy of mine won a jersey from them on one of their contests on air and they basically refused to give it to him. I heard of this before but I didnt believe it, but now I do. Took him MONTHS of bitching and constant emails until they finally caved and agreed to send it. Bunch of thieves if you ask me advertising a prize and then hoping you forget about it

 

TSN radio or TV? The radio channels outsude of Toronto are simply owner by TSN and managed separately. It would not surprise me if they were as bad for this as any other radio station.
