Minnesota in the early 2000's, the Ducks just after them, the Flames in the mid 2000's, and (same coach as Ottawa right now) the Lightning in the early 2010's. Not a new tactic and it really sucks to watch. Most teams can find a way around it with the new NHL but with how much obstruction is allowed to go in the playoffs it's very effective come spring time.

Not new, but from my memory it was the Devils and Jacques Lemaire who were the architects back in the 90s. They won the cup while putting us all to sleep.

I remember when the Ducks played Minnesota in the Western finals some time in the early 2000's. Literally made me want to stop watching the NHL. Gar-bage

Just for the record I'm not saying the Sens are doing something wrong to the game of hockey. They are trying to win and they can't win trying to out skill a team like Pittsburgh or out skate them. However they can control how often and where they get the puck which is the best tactic for Ottawa to try and win this series. I worry though that at some point the players will get bored of it and the Sens will end up like the Lightning did under the same coach. Ineffective. Hell, if they win this year though it's all worth it.

Not guilty. Dude has a family now, let it go.

Anyways, to me it is a non-issue but figured I'd ask. Anyone have a problem with that hit on Rust? I don't. A guy on my old team posted on FB that he liked the hit and it was clean, I agreed. But a million other people said it was dirty. Granted, likely mostly Pens fans but that shouldn't matter (but it usually does). I assume you guys all thought it was a clean hit too, right? Phanuef is quite a bit taller, Rust was head-down sorta bent over. Also Phanuef doesn't really leave the ice until after contact is made, plus his elbow was in. I think he did what he could to keep it clean (but hard). Yes, there was a little bit of head contact, but what is he supposed to do? So I have no problem with it, didn't know what you guys thought.

^ I have not seen a replay recently but if I recall correctly when I saw the replay during the game I thought he maybe left the ice when he made contact, so charging maybe. Past that it was a good hit.

The game was awesome! Guy ended up cussing and doing all kinds of stuff in our row in section 208 and the Pittsburgh police had to be called in to take him out and they ended up tazing him 5 times! Tazed him up on the floor and literally threw him into the elevator and he was gone quickly. It was hilarious!:rofl::rofl::rofl:
