Lol. Once I moved my office home, things just changed with work and I was never on here in evenings either. But no, not dead. Still have the same truck and still watching hockey every night. I have been meaning to get back on and chat it up with you guys. I missed it.

 

That crazy Lightning fan is gone. He got banned... about a half dozen accounts since you left.

 

I get the feeling the WHOLE league seems to be just coasting Cali style. (except Vegas, they seem determined)


Hoping with LA, its just the coach trying to find the right chemistry with all the injuries.

Hex was well respected in LA .. Kings should of kept him in house !

 

Ohhh and LA Kings are still totally the undeniable dynasty !!! ... just hit a rough patch of ice in the confidence dept.

So ya, for the Pens fans, I just figured I'd start of there. I suppose I like the recent moves. A little unexpected (especially Burke lol) but I'm good with it. I think Hextall is the right mind for the mini rebuild that the Pens need. I think Sulli and Rutherford have this tunnel vision that our team was still the best and fastest and we can play like 2017 and still win. And I think that outlook needs to change. And we have like zero assets, so hopefully they make some smart moves and try to stock up a bit.
Elsewhere...Super pumped on Matthews so far. He looks amazing, Marner too. Pavelski has been awesome. Been a weird year for goalies though.

 

I do think Hextall's has a good deal of work in front of hm. The decline seems obvious for the Pens. I would like to see Letang moved. If the last GM allegedly resigned because he tried and was shut down, then I can't see the new guy having the freedom to do so. If not this season, then in the off season. Letang's (and Malkin's for that matter) is through 2022, so either a move this season or the off season for the best return.

 

Ya man, I agree. If Burke's quote from a couple months ago is sincere, then don't be shocked if it does in-fact happen though. He basically said, you can't keep those 3 guys around and think you can win. Gotta move 1 for assets and retool a bit. And I can't argue with that. Especially with how Marino emerged and if POJO's play is any indication, you have some good young guys that can eat up minutes and play in the key situations. Should be interesting.

 

Pens with a win in the shootout over the Islanders. The first goal was a pretty display of passing. Malkin scored late to tie it. Crosby with the shootout winner. DeSmith may have replaced Jarry as the #1 goalie. It's a start.

 

Good game between Canes and Stars tight most of the night but Canes pulled it out 5-3 with an empty net goal near the end.

Ya Desmith certainly looks better, between the 2. And it's insane how almost all of our wins are in OT.

 

This Bruins / Ranguhs game is pretty feisty

 

He is 4-1, Jarry is 2-4-1. No reason for Casey to sit on the bench.

 

A local website had something about trade rumors with Fleury coming back. Apparently the Pens tried to get him but Vegas said, "nada."

BTW, so far I enjoy the Canadian games more than any other division. I like a lot of the teams/players, so that's part of it but I watch every game from that division, if it's on (and I'm able to.) Flames/Van game last night was awesome.

 

For what it is worth, the West division is the most balanced, with only 9 points separating the top from the bottom. Compare that to 16 for the North, 12 for the East and 11 for the Central. Of course, Ottawa may be the worst team in the NHL. I imagine those Canadian teams have a raised sense of rivalry and competition in this season of contrived divisions.

 

Strong win by the Pens against a very good Washington team. Great effort by Crosby on the EN goal. He was hooked to his knees and while still being hooked and on his knees fired a shot that split the net down the middle.
