    Answer #2:

I have had "goals" for this build. I have wanted to have my parts by the end of this month. I wanted to start saving and looking for a truck in 2018. I wanted to find a truck and have it built by the 3rd weekend of March 2018.

So far, I think I am ahead of where I want to be. I got my xmas bonus at work and it's a damn great way to start a "trail rig fund", so that's what I am going to do. It should be easy to build on the bonus I got and I should be able to scrounge up a few grand pretty quick. The more I can save, the better condition truck I can buy myself. I want to go back to a single cab, but I don't think they make TRD OffRoad/Sports in single cabs, do they?

I have rear shocks left to get, but I am not sweating those.

Greg from Dirt King called this evening. No bad blood between either party. Think the situation turned into a lot of "it's easy to be a tough guy/come off wrong on the webz" and a little old school actual voice to voice communication keeps heads cooler and more civil.

Props to Greg at DK for giving a call and getting everything squared up.

I'll have another update to post in a few days. Shit happens. A small "hey, sorry about that" is all takes to keep this dude happy.

Move on and keep on keepin on though.

    5 lugger eh? Single/Access cab?

Know my fair share about that topic

I miss my 4 banger and my single cab. (Half the point of this build is getting back to those 2 topics, 4 banger, single cab, and throw in some 4x4 this time)

Funding for this little adventure has taken off a tiny bit. Quite close to having come up with 1K the past 2 weeks. To the point where I am going to simply save as much as I can, find a truck, hopefully not have to spend all I saved and have some left over for rear shocks.

This build is funded with pure hard earned cash. A lot of bonus money from work paychecks contributes. Also have an ever growing pile of premium scrap I could take in at any time. Electrician, so I get my fair share of higher end scrap. Copper, obviously, but there is a very fair amount of brass to be had as well. Wife and I will sit in the evenings, BS, pass the pipe and strip romex down til it's bare. I cut down THHN type wire and throw it in a tub. I do a lot of Tesla charging outlets, use a lot of #6 stranded, techs usually split leftovers. Pure or coated copper buss boards out of old electrical panels from Service changes.

***All my scrap is 1,000,000% legit***

Brass, Stainless steel, copper, and occasionally a big haul of cast iron. I sell it when there's enough for a truck load. Also have a good market for scrap electric motors. Got 3 lengths of #00, about 200' long (each) Stripping that will be my next "project". Got a home-made wire stripper made out of a large commercial can opener. Stick one end of the wire in, feed it through the machine, then grab the starter end and drag the rest through....Makes a bit of smoke/dust, so I usually set up outside. Can strip about 500' per hour if all goes well.

No, you can’t get a TRD package on a reg cab. Don’t let that stop you though if that’s what you want. Sport package is purely cosmetic. No benefits for a trail rig at all. OR gets you a rear locker. Super nice, but again, for a trail rig id much rather have a mechanical in the rear. No button to push, no waiting for it to engage, no actuator to fail.

The storage space of the bigger cabs is awesome though.

Newer romex is like butter. Especially if its not all twisted up. Cut with strippers and the jacket slides right off. Stupid NOT to strip it out.

I havent taken to cutting open stranded wire but i got some 3/0 copper service wire the other day that would be worth cutting out.
