I'm tempted to go so I can meet some bay area tacos, but I'm just not sure if my schedule will allow yet.

If I can get my shocks from Redwood City by next weekend I will have everything to lift and make this trip. Really hoping I do and see how my 34" Falkens do on the 4runner.

I'll just be going for the day unless I can somehow convince the wife to let me take the kid to camp.

 

I'm not bringing the kiddo until he can talk a bit more and sleeps a bit better. Don't wanna have to be on hardcore babysitting duty all weekend lol. Another 6mo-a year and I think he'll be my copilot

 

Been looking into cb radios as it seems like most NorCal people run em and it might be nice to have to hear whats going on - don't want to miss out on the trail banter

Thinking the Midland 75-822 will work best for the little use it will get.

Question is tailgate antenna mount or magnetic.

Leaning forward the tail gate mount and running a cable from under the seat?? To the storage cubby in the back ??? So I can just leave the cable in place and stash it under the seat / In the cubby when not in use and the antenna under the rear seats.

I think I like the idea of a rear antenna better then a mag one on the roof

Perhaps look in to Ham radios? Better range and clarity. I gave up on CBs after spending a bunch of cash and losing signal from people right around a corner from me

 

Definitely look into ham. Most everyone used ham on the eagle lake run ... except the jeeps

Hmm ok - I'll look into HAM more if that's what most guys are running

 

I'm gonna install mine this weekend and hopefully get it programmed and then pick up 2 spares for others to use. I cant promise one for everyone but we can at least get a couple trucks with them

Don't think I'll have one for this run especially because of the license requirement but looking into them.

 

I still have my Yaesu 7900 from my old truck. But Im gonna pick up a couple Baofeng hand helds

Haha sweet. Being stock can I take some of the weaker trails fairly easily? Never went wheeling before, looking to tag along for the experience.

 

Yeah, 2WD wil do fine on about 90% of the stuff at Hollister. I'm planning on taking a couple of the black diamond trails but there are bypasses around them so we can go up the hard stuff and the 2WDs can take the bypasses and meet us on the other side, no problem!

 

Do you guys feel the need to air down the tires much at HH?
