i think it was you who said that you have never been to hollister but i'd imagine a fire road to not be hard at all if its dry but if its muddy, i may get stuck

Yea, I've never been but I've seen pictures and heard there are ways around trails. I'm sure other people will chime in tomorrow.

the trails are not prerunner friendly especially if its wet...

the green trails are little more that fire roads with some ruts minor hills etc

the blue trails are dangerous when wet... but when dry you will need 4x4 to get up them as they have steep hills

black trails are usually only good to go on with a dedicated trail rig with locker and 4x4...

I've been on the green a lot, all the park trails are green... I've done blue but I'd advise against it without 4x4 mainly because of the steep narrow hills. The black trails I've only looked at them... and trust me you'll know one when you see it.

It *should* be dry. I'm sticking to blue and green trails. Not even going to attempt black.

I've been there with Ken (05sctaco) and he did pretty much most of the blues with his prerunner (with OEM locker). The blacks are for sure 4x4 only, and even then it's at our own risk.

I'm proud to say that I conquered Truck Hill, but I damn near blew my tranny and probably won't ever do any blacks again (I say that now, but when you're there and see other people doing it, you can't help by try sometimes :D)

    x2!

Last time I went to Hollister Hills, I was able to do 95% of the blue trails. Granted, I had the elocker most of the time and used speed to get over really steep hills. Had a '05 Prerunner off-road. Forgot to mention it was completely dry. If the ground is wet, you can forget about it. You'll either just keep sliding back down or dig in. I wouldn't recommend wheeling when it's wet anyways. Safety is a big issue!

It's very important to air down your tires to half the psi of what you would normally have.

When going up steep hills, speed and careful steering are your best friends. Trust me on that one.

Prerunner o/r is a very capable vehicle for light to moderate off-roading.
