Heck yeah! If I had lottery money, I'd be something like that and a Singer to mostly just stare at.

I wouldn't mind having one to play with, haha. I got to drive one of the Daihatsus around a little bit in Korea. It was kinda fun, don't know if I'd want to drive one down the interstate here, but to run around town in, I think it'd be kinda cool. Definitely unique.

Does anyone else think Toyota reliability is going to change over the next 10 years with all these new hybrid and turbo motors?

Toyota has been delivering turbo engines and hybrid drivelines for ages now. Heavy equipment like buses have hybrid drivelines. Tesla get hammered for quality, but they seem to keep running well.

So, with Toyota jumping in on turbos and hybrids a bit late, same with EVs, I expect that they took the time to nail it.

This means alot coming from you and gives me hope. I like the new Tundra and Sequioa alot, but was timid around the powerplant against proven v8 reliability. I even ended up looking at Lexus GX for that reason, but havent bit the bullet.

Don’t think so, their hybrids have done well over the years, and they have been doing turbos for a long time in the overseas markets. Though saw that their diesels went a 500K mile service life on 1KD-FTV to 250K with the 1GD-FTV, guessing because of DPF systems. Not that we would have ever get a diesel, did find it interesting.

Yea. I keep forgetting they have been testing all these motors in the Lexus lineup as well. Efficiency and power are certainly appreciated

    Thanks! :hattip:

I think things will be good, with more torque but less of the nice rumble. Look at it this way. No one is complaining about the power delivery or shifting in the Tundra.

There's word that Chevy is going to turbo I6s in their next full sizers and are promising more output.

Horrid design if that, in fact, is close to reality!

It isn't. The new design was release last december. Powertrains are the only mystery.

Toyota doesn't just push a product line out because of pressure. Their R and D is extensive. Are they perfect, no. But they have like you said been doing hybrid and turbos for a while and would rather a product take longer to introduce than rush out an inferior product. There's a reason they're the 2nd best brand in the world.

Looks like what the engineers came up with when Toyota said, build us a pick up truck, that looks like a FJ Cruiser. Oh and put this mininvan engine under the hood.
