That reminded me back in '80's. My family and I went to a car show when I was a younger... I looked at Porsche... a driver came by and asked me for a ride ... We went for a ride... It was fun.

It was a 911 model similar to that photo you posted.

There’s a few things I’ve liked about Porsche since I was young enough to think about it. It’s an aspiration brand. Most people can find one (new or used) in their price range if they are serious. Much harder to say about Lambo, Ferrari, Bugatti, etc. In general, you can wrench on them in your garage if you’re motivated. And finally… even with the entry level models, the focus is on the driver and the experience. My 981 Cayman GTS is slower than the newer 718 4-pot turbo (which actually doesn’t sound bad if you’re a WRX fan). But the gear shifting and the sound of a singing Porsche flat six trumps that 0.4s difference in 0-60.

My brother had Cayman but it didn't last long because he sold it for something else.

I remember years ago, a dealership in my town had super cars in the showroom for awhile.. but not anymore. Such as Ferrari, Lamborghini...

First Lambo car I saw when I was growing up was a white lambo countach..

I know….”starting” lol! Even if I won the lotto, not sure if I could do it, seems obsessive.

Can you imagine even a restrained drive in that lil beasty? Then getting out and listening to it crack and tink from the heat. I cannot even comprehend.

Drove a 911 when I was 18 years old... dude tossed me the keys and I followed his buddy because the owner was drunk.
Damn thing was beautiful - drove like a dream - now I'm too old for one.. LOL

Ooohh…. Been there done that. You my friend win the audio-recall award for today. My ‘85 Carrera would cool down like that after hitting operating temps. The smell of toasty metal and the ever present hint of warm oil… with 12 liters on hand of course.

I can do more ASMR in prose, if you'd like?:rofl:

But, yeah. Some quite time in the garage after a good ride / drive just works.

Yeah...that looks way too much like the Santa Cruz. The trunk of my 2019 Tucson was bigger than the bed of that "truck"...lol.

I saw one of these on my way into work today and instantly thought of this thread. I may be spending a little too much time on TW.:D

After a quick google search, it's a 2022 Ram 1000. I didn't even know this was a thing. In the world of modern compact "trucks", it's not terrible looking. Not pretty, but not terrible.

Edit: Just did a little more reading on it, apparently it's only available in South America right now? I guess I can tell people I spotted an exotic import this morning. Looks like it's branded as a Fiat Toro in other parts of the world.

Yeah I don’t see the point of having a bed that small, a CUV makes more sense for hauling gear, the 5’ bed on the DCSB Tacomas isn’t enough for me, the 6’ on my ACLB is barely enough.

Funny you should mention the tiny bed size on most of these compacts. I saw this after my last post, I wasn't going to post it, but since you mentioned bed size...

Apparently there's a Ram 700 too; available with a regular cab. I had no idea these little things existed. I actually really like it; compact, simple, cheap, a decent sized bed (for a compact), and it even looks good (again, for a compact). If Toyota made something like this, I'd definitely buy one. I would think with the market the way it is, something like this would sell really well in North America, especially if it had a hybrid variant.

Actually not that big of a design departure from the old Dodge Rampage of the late 70s/Early 80s. I like it! rampge-retro-03.jpg
