    I am trying to figure out what to do with my local dealership. I was allocated a 2023 Trail Edition on 11/24, I was told delivery would be 12/14 this date as constantly shifted, and not in my favor. At the end of December, I was told it would be on the lot on Jan 3rd, and went and finalized the sale to lock in the holiday (toyotaton rates). The truck was then pushed to the 6th, 9th, 11, 12, now the 16th. I have the regional team working on this issue trying to get this truck from the port in Jacksonville, Fl to SC, this thing has been sitting at the port since the 23rd of December, and just had the work order started on the 2nd of Jan to have the accessories added. I am tempted to tell the dealer to cancel the contract, refund down payment and stick the truck where the sun don't shine. They have offered to provide additional accessories and make my first month payment for the delays. I really don't want to lose this truck and have to find what I want on a lot, or have to start over, so long story short if this was you what would you do or ask for in some sort of compensation?

    Patience is a virtue. Work the dealer for all the freebies you can get.

    I looked at that thread and didn't see a post that was similar to what I was asking, but then again there where hundreds of pages of post, so I might have missed it.

    I would ask for proof of delay and, if valid, take them up on their offers and wait. If you dealership is being honest, that is all you've got.

    What I’m thinking: yeah it sucks, but how long is going to take to find another? Probably longer and more effort.

    In the end, you won’t be teaching them a lesson, they already have this truck sold several times over, maybe for more $.

    Milk them for what compensation, if you can and get what you want at a discount. You have been waiting 6 weeks....that is nothing. Let this be a lesson in self discipline. I waited 4 months for my Tacoma in 2012. And around a year for a Corvette. If this is what you want, just wait for it. I think you are very lucky to get the exact Tacoma you want so quickly.
    Good Luck.

    Almost forgot: My truck was made in my own city and then they shipped it to Houston to sit in a yard for I don't know how long then shipped it back.

    Not bad. IF you don't like the accessories they offer, tell them to keep those and make the 2nd month payment too.

    Sounds like you answered your own question.

    Pro tip. Next time don't buy from SE Toyota region if you can avoid it. Unless a dealer you like has exactly what you want already sitting on the lot.

    I just hope for your sake the truck arrives optioned as you expect. Port added 'stuff' can be shaky.

    Clearwater Bill, thanks for the advice. I ordered an 2022 Army Green TRD offroad in 2021 and had to wait a year, unfortunately someone blew a stop sign and it got totaled. I was driving my 2000 Jeep Wrangler while I was waiting on this one to come in, as luck would have it the motor blew two weeks before I was told the allocation came in and given the first delivery date. I think I am just being impatient as I have been driving my sister in laws spare vehicle while waiting for this to show up.

    Personally, I’d wait and keep pushing the dealership for more freebies unless you have an actual need for the vehicle sooner.

    Maybe say you’re going to walk if you don’t get a second month’s payment thrown in there. That’s chump change to them.

    When I was negotiating the price on my new taco, I started to literally walk out of the dealership and they eventually came down $6K below sticker. Not exactly the same situation but you get the point. Just my two cents.

    I know I wouldn't be teaching them a lesson, but I have found two Trail Editions that weren't spoken for within 50 miles, that I had to pass on while dealing with these delays. While these didn't have all of the accessories my payments would have been lower. Thanks for the reply, I think I just need to hear some other perspectives to help get out of my own head.

    @RIX TUX

    Lunar Rock Trail Edition and it's a dealer in the Charleston area. I have already signed the paperwork and made the down payment. I had to wait a year on my 2022 Army Green TRD Offroad that was totaled by a real estate agent that blew through a stop sign and pulled out in front of me. I think I am just being impatient due to the substantial down payment, being without a truck, and just getting into my head with the delays. I do appreciate the comments. I am aware of the supply chain issues and like I said above waited a year on my previous truck but had my 2015 pre-runner while I was waiting on it.

    Yeah, have some patience, any freebies that they throw your way is more than generous at this point. Pre-Covid, this time of year could also expect delays in shipping products cause, ya know, it's the holidays and whatnot. A truck isn't something that Amazon is going to ship to your door in 2 days.

    Maybe ask the dealer to use one of their loaner cars for service? It can’t hurt to ask, and would put pressure on them to stay on them.
    When going in from service, Even if I don’t need a loaner, I take them as they need/want them back sooner rather than later.

    @TacoGranny

    I am trying to have some patience, I think if they weren't communicating all of the dates to me it would be less of an issue. I do appreciate them being so open and like I have replied to other posters, I think I just needed to hear other unbiased opinions to get out of my own head on this issue.

    Yeah I hear you, it sucks to get your expectations up only to have the goal post moved. I'm just saying it's expected, and anything they give you is very generous on their part.
