    Stock so far!
Guys, I'am on my way to look at a 2001 Extended cab 4 x 4 auto with 34k original miles V6 engine, looks to be a sr5 model. The owner says it's mint and is asking around 13k for it. Thoughts on pricing for this model and year?

Kind of hard to tell based off of one picture...
It's not unheard of though. I think @eon_blue picked his first gen up with about the same mileage on it?

Mine had 24k miles on it when I got it last year, and it cost me nearly $20k at a Toyota dealership.

$13K? That's it?? That's suspiciously low, lol. Especially being a double cab 4x4, granted it's not TRD but still...a private seller could get $18-20k for that easily I would think.

If it checks out (and there's no rust on the frame) then you'd better jump on that before someone else does...

Not a bad deal. 40k on my ex cab 4WD TRD with a shell for $16,250 from the dealer I worked at. That truck is going to move quick

Depends on region, and he's buying it without dealer mark up which is reflected in your $20k price.

CA has a substantially higher market value than 95% of the US.

Also be sure to look over the Carfax carefully and look at the recorded mileage for service dates (there likely won't be many with that few miles, but still) just to be sure the odometer wasn't rolled back at some point.

And don't assume that super low miles = practically new 2001 truck. It might not have the mileage but cars are designed to be driven and when they sit for too long, that can potentially be just as detrimental to certain components as a lot of hard miles can be on others. Take it for a drive and see how it does, how the throttle responds, how smooth it is, check for fluid leaks, have a mechanic look at the timing belt, etc.

IMO, holly grail would be a TRD 5 speed doublecab...

I paid $24k for my 2004 TRD doublecab 4x4. Of course, it was a year old when I got it from the dealer...

If it's clean, jump on it.

True, the first gen market is very dependent upon region and here in Cali we usually pay out the wazoo for them. Dunno where the OP is located but $13k sounds like a solid deal to me. The seller is probably going right off of the blue book value and not tacking on the usual markup for 1st gen demand, which is good for whoever the buyer ends up being assuming the truck is in good shape.

That would certainly be the holy grail indeed considering they didn't make any of those :D Not for 1st gens anyway

I had to have a manual trans so the Xtra cab was the way to go for me

ah you're right, looked like a double from the angle of the pic and it being sideways. That does make the price sound a little more realistic.

If it's got a clean title and a good frame, that price is a screamin' deal.

I'm fairly certain you could get one via special order, similar to the 1st gen 4Runner v6 turbo...

Back in the day, my brother and I swapped a 5 speed in my 86 22RTE 4Runner. Considering the same for my '04 DC.

When I got my 2001 in July of 2003 from a GMC/chevy dealer I paid 14k with 28,000 miles on it. I think I got a steal of a deal.

If all is well with the truck you are looking at I think that is a reasonable price.

Is it 4wd? If not that would be the reason for the low price, and also those chrome wheels.

Regardless hope its everything you're dreaming of and please for the love of all things that are Tacomas you better post what happens!!!!!!!!!

I will admit that when I opened this thread I expected a super white, Limited, with a sunroof, 5 speed, rear diff lock, and a V6 if such an animal exists
