Do NOT try this at home, we are deranged professionals.

I was working today, had the bed empty to go get a half-yard of road-base, since I am up against it to get this job done, I agreed to pick up a few bags of decorative rock as well, heavy to be sure, but not the worst by any stretch, then at the last second the order gets changed, a FULL yard of road and the 8 bags of rocks. I'm on my way to the supply house and it begins to dawn on me that this will be pretty heavy but I tell my stepson to pump the bags up to 125 PSI (their max) and away we go.
I wiggled the wheel to see how she felt and I get this sickening side to side yaw and at the first stop sign, hit the brake pedal, pretty much nothing happens, so I down shift and get her stopped. 10 miles to the jobsite, gear low, take yer time, pray that an air bag doesn't explode or an axle doesn't snap off.
Get her to the site, guys are takin a break, get on the horn to the supply house and casually ask "Hey, how much does a yard of road weigh?"
    The answer?

    Approximately 2600 LBS!!!!

"BREAK'S OVER! GET THOSE FUCKING BAGS OUTTA THERE AND GET THIS FUCKING GRAVEL OUT OF MY TRUCK NOW!!!! ON THE DOUBLE!!! GO! GO! GO!"

After some quick calculations, the total weight (with the shell and rack)......about 3500lbs.

    Stock truck rating........1000lbs.

Holy christ....Thank you AAL, 5100's and especially thank you Firestone airbags!! I promise i will never do that again......but it is nice to know it
    can!
BTW, no damage to the truck:)

My only worry here is bending the axle to the point where you might have blown an axle seal. Keep an eye on it by seeing if oil pools up inside your rear wheels.

Wow! And I thought I was "living on the edge" when I hauled two separate loads of sand at 1,500 lbs each.

Wait. Your tailgate...It's fine with all that weight?

And 1000 lbs stock? Is that all? That's really not a lot of weight is it? Whats the tow capacity?

edit: Okay with searching I'm getting between 1300 and 1500 payload depending upon cyls, towing is 3500 standard and 6500 with tow package.

I've filled my bed completely full of water. But I supported the load with the hi lift under the hitch. Held up fine

Holy crap man. Most I've had was a pallet that was shrink wrapped with sixty 40# bags of top soil. The in-laws basement was flooding and I ran over to lowes and told them to throw it on with the fork lift to shore up around the house. . It barely fit and on the way back (short trip luckily) the headlights were pointing into the trees. No air bags on mine though. I just had the AAL and 5100s.
