HA!! Thanks, Wilcam47. Yes, I ran a string from end to end but since it was 100' I put a temporary fence board near the middle to reduce the sag in the string.

I have no idea why they manufactured it that way!! It was bugging me too. If you center it you’re drilling straight into the joints. Could’ve easily been avoided with a different number of “slats”. Still looks better than the old door and the price was right.

I knew there would be a reason it wasn't centered.

Alternative to a different number of slats, the width of the bars could have been changed.

Maybe the bars were supposed to be turned 90°

Maybe... door was installed on a new build about 10 years ago. I simply removed and reinstalled the bars in the same location after refinishing the door and painting the bars. Just a standard sized mass produced door from a big builder. If it was a mistake, it was a mistake made at the factory.

Anyone know of the NEC or IBC rules on insulation around and behind the breaker box? Im required to have the wall at R13.

My thinking is that foam insulation is flammable so there must be some rules about shielding it behind drywall or using rockwool instead.

For those that have breaker panels on exterior walls, what does it look like with the cover off?

R13 directly behind the panel box is gonna be difficult to achieve. I would try to get that value for the whole wall assembly.

If it’s a 2x6 wall I would peel like 2.5” (Thickness) off a fiberglass or rockwool batt and stick it behind there.

2x4 wall u may be out of luck lol, aren’t most panel boxes 3.5” deep?

they do make fire proof spray foam too you could try that

Ok, I’m replacing all the door hardware in my home. I had no problems with any door but the front door.
I do not know why this is an issue but when I go to replace the deadbolt and the knob the new hardware doesn’t seem to fit. The holes are about 4mm too far into the door from the edge so the new hardware doesn’t fit.
the latchbolt lengths are different if that makes sense.

I have no idea why this is. I’m not sure how to resolve this issue.

My goal is having every single lockable door in my house keyed to one single key. I cannot return my other knobs so its either buy a new knob and deadbolt thats the same brand as whats there and likely fits And pay a locksmith to key them all the same OR buy a new front door with the hole in the right spot.

Am I overlooking a different solution?

The door is metal otherwise I could technically fill and re-drill the holes if it were wood.

standard door setbacks are 2 3/8 and 2 3/4 , sounds like you have the wrong one

some hardware is adjustable to work with both setbacks

What oz-t said. There’s a pretty good chance u can flip/switch/slide the hole pattern in the latch ( the long piece that inserts into the door) to allow the knob/handle parts to line up with them. What brand/model are they?

So... I’m gonna blame this all on the fact that I built a pergola yesterday and I’m tired and hungover.
That and I have an aversion to reading directions.
The latch bolt has two sizes it conforms to

    :bananadead:

    thank you guys

You're in a rough neighborhood if you need to lock your pergola!
