You might want to look into one of those tables with a built in fire pit. The big box stores sell something but you may be able to construct a concrete table with a built in gas fire pit. With a gas pit, you may be able to hang those sun sails over the patio space for extra shade.

The new insulation seems to have helped a lot. AC actually shuts off every now and then unlike before. Cycle times are a bit long at 20-30 mins running 5-10 mins off, but I'll take that as a win over it running constantly. Theres more insulation in the crawlspace and a bit more in the attic to touch up, as well as sealing up the fireplace (damper is broke) and resealing the front door which should help get it down to the average run time of 15-20 mins.

if your really looking to help out it out, take a couple cans of spray foam and hit every wire, top plate, and hole that goes through your ceiling from the attic side. A well sealed house with no insulation will perform better than a poorly sealed house with R50.

Makes sense. Ill throw a couple cans on the next Lowes list.

Right now Im just ecstatic its behaving like a normal AC system in that it cuts off every now and then. :)

I like your idea...in fact that is my vacation project this year. Here was our solution for getting both in a small space. Rug and Furniture were a Costco purchase. Cantilever umbrella came from Wayfair. Outdoor Carpet is 7x12 for reference. Furniture is made by Sunbrella and very good quality. Fire table is really nice. Plus it came with waterproof covers...critical here in the NW. Ignore the old fire pit and bbq those will be going away once I complete the flagstone patio and construct the gazebo which will have an outdoor kitchen and dining tables.

I'm looking for some ideas on 2 large interior doors that will be hung barn door style. I hate the typical barn door style. Has anyone seen anything that may look better?

Doors are approximately 48" wide by 7' tall. Max weight is 150lbs each.

i assume bedroom? Depends on what you want. they have ones with the smoked glass or you can get one with a full length mirror also. Google some ideas. Home Cheapo/ lowes, etc. have options on display usually to get ideas.

I'll have a single door but would think a mirror would work best in the master for me.

Also if you have a second hand store like Restore or Goodwill. you can prob find nice, real wood doors there you can buy and convert into sliders like these. Prob can get a nice large front doors and buy the hardware in store. Depending on how handy you are. just another option

I love the look of the sliding barn doors way more than pocket doors, and they work great for ensuites.
When we were house hunting we saw a main floor powder room with a sliding barn door on it. Lets just say, even a minimal gap around the door and the wall allows all the bathroom... errr... smells & sounds... to travel into the main living area. Not exactly what you want to have happen to your guests after Uncle Dave remembers he is in fact lactose intolerant after his 2nd piece of cheesecake...
    Just sayin.

    Just... no!

I have double barn doors going into my theater room and even there it's not ideal because of sound transfer and the doors don't always stay tight together so there's some like leaking through.

hahahahaha TMI but funny. our toilet has its own door for that lol We dont have a door from the master BR to the master Bath, sink shower. I liked the mirror door idea as it would be a full body door and since the bed is nearby it can be used for multiple things :rofl:

Major thing to keep in mind with barn doors no doubt. They look neat but other than a closet i dont think they have much use

I'm putting a sliding barn style door on my shop bathroom because everybody loves the smell of their own brand

I put in sort of a combination pocket/barn door in the basement of our old house. I used an actual modern barn door track and hid it with trim that we painted to blend in. When looking down the stairs the door disappeared. It was also easy to do with the space and construction we had going on between the finished and unfinished parts of the basement.

on the topic of barn doors, how much sound could they block? I've been wanting to put a door in the jamb thats between my kitchen and laundry room, figured I'd eventually get around to putting a normal door, but the talk of these barn doors has me thinking about that as an option. Would/Could they significantly reduce the sounds of the washer/dryer?

Yea agreed, its not super sound proof just to keep some privacy

I most likely would be way better but still will hear the W/D a bit.
