If you wanted to keep the fans they'd probably clean up with soap and water. I learned a lot the first time I used an airless sprayer. Most important, mask everything. Painting is easy once you get the hang of it. It's the prep, mask work and cleanup that's time consuming.

Blew out the stupid soffit above the tub & vanity this weekend just in time to make it to the hospital for our virtual baby shower. Then right as I wrapped up our shower the plumber calls & says he finally got my new water heater & can be to me in 30. At that point it was a mad dash home to drain the original one, take it off the pedestal, demo said pedestal, demo the moldy drywall, replace said drywall, tape/mud & place the new stainless stand in place. The plumber was thru my home warranty (thanks sellers!) And he was awesome. He was there helping me with everything, even provided me with the drywall tape & a scraper when I came up short. I wasn't even going to tape/mud since he was waiting on me but he told me to just do it right the first time, he didn't have another job lined up so he had all the time in the world.

Another 7 fence posts set yesterday. All thats left on this side is for the stumps to be taken out next weekend and for me to buy the wood for the fence rails. Should be a few weeks but at least the hard part is over.

Neighbor lady told me her contractor hit too much rock when trying to put the new vinyl fence on her side and they would think of a better solution. Must be a sub-par contractor cause I only had 1 out of 7 holes that gave me issues. Still got that post in a good 18" too. :notsure:

I put in 6 posts with no issue. I think her contractor is just lazy.

Also they couldve just used the existing holes from the fence they took out. They didnt bother filling them, I had to after seeing her dog fall in one.

I have a dewalt cordless (DCBL772 60v flexvolt axial) since I already had a 6ah flexvolt battery. I use it to do my hardscapes (roof balcony, patio, driveway, side patio and front walkway) which I can do on a single charge 12-14 min. Big bonus to battery that they're stupid simple, so the wife will grab it and blow off the patios as well if shes having friends over. It moves leaves on the grass ok, but haven't had a heavy coverage yet to really push capability. Don't have a big lot, so will probably rake most it to the street for county bulk collection days.

I started seeing fine dirt in my shower floor so I figured I had a leak. The tile came up super easy since it was laid on a sand mixture. WTF am I looking at here? Is this dumb as hell or am I?

That seems super dry for a mortar bed. Are you going to replace the cove tiles as well? You may have to take that row up to set a new base.

I would recommend Schluter styrofoam bases. You don't have to worry about slope, just mortaring it into the shower.

We haven't used the shower for over two weeks and it was still pretty damp when removing the tile. I'd like to just get remove all the tile and just put an insert in until I get my foundation issues resolved (need piers installed) The older couple that we bought the hose from said they had it repaired due to a leak in the disclosures which it obviously wasn't repaired correctly.

I'm pretty sure a mortar bed is supposed to harden into a cement like substrate. Not turn to sand.

Got the water heater drain line run down off the platform to where it's all concrete, to include a 6" concrete footer. I'll sleep better knowing even if this new water heater leaks that
    1. It's under a 6 year warranty
    2. It's now sitting in a drain pan
    3. The platform is no longer timber & drywall, but instead galvanized steel
    4. If it does leak, the drain is plumbed down to where literally no damage can occur. The runoff will be noticed within hours in the form of a puddle.
    20210913_103112.jpg

Another plumber is coming on Thursday to replace the leaking gate valve on my main. Couldn't include it on the water heater claim so it's a new company & a new $75 deductible. I'll gladly pay $75 to sweat in a new $50 1.5" full port quarter turn ball valve.

Also today I got the ceiling above the tub drywalled (no pics, I suck at hanging drywall). Also replaced the plumbing & hardware for the entire tub/shower assembly. Called the tile guy & he's coming on the 23rd. About a week before we expect to have our son. Crunch time!

    New vs old (1983) hardware20210913_143400.jpg

Sharkbite, pex & Delta. Couldn't be an easier install
    20210913_163346.jpg

    20210913_160101.jpg

Tile guy wants me to trim the drywall 2" off the face of the tub, so that's up next. And I have a new roll of vanilla cotton candy to throw up on the walls to replace the 40 year old lemon flavored stuff
