Does anyone have any knowledge about Chimney Caps?

I have a 1980 House with a prefab Temco TEC 36-1 Fireplace. During Hurricane Ida I found a roughly 10" round, 1/8" thick metal disc in my yard that appeared to have come from the top of my Chimney Cap. the Cap itself seems to be just fine other than 3 very small holes on the top. You can see in the picture where the lighter area of the metal is, lines up with the disc that I found on the ground.

    20211221_161740.jpg

I have called around and no one seems to know what this disc is or its purpose.(my thought is that is it a heat shield) when I asked if the Cap could be replaced, I am being told that any fireplace over 30 years old was double walled and now everything is triple walled and the cap cannot be replaced. Instead I would have to replace the entire fireplace top to bottom.

I have another contractor coming to look at it, but they aren't available until the end of Jan., so I figured I would see if anyone here was an expert on this stuff.

Thanks. That sounds right. the Google search looks similar. I will just have to wait for the contractor to see what they say...

First row on back wall in and level. Tub isn’t level and front wall isn’t plumb. Will address front wall last

Finished up the last bit of my basement remodel. Old stairs worked but had some pretty gross carpet. Ripped it out and put new tread and risers in.

Moving right along. Don’t mind the drippy paint. Painted the ceiling while I didn’t have to cut in

The header was parallel to the joist above. And it practically fell out. Id say it wasnt load bearing.

    Lol

Believe me, when I saw that they used 2 2x10's as a header, I thought it was load bearing.
