    Huge difference between old growth pine and the faster growing they use now. Ever worked on an older 100+ building oz? The rough lumber in some old houses and the framing they did is amazing. Sometimes it's also really scary but hey not many codes then.

    No pine , all the old buildings here were framed with old growth Douglas Fir

    20+ hours of tiling and 600+ tiles. Wish I'd gone with a bigger tile on the tub surrond.

    Slab poured for the 12x20 shed build starting this weekend. Lumber delivery this Thursday. I am pretty excited to get the project under way. This is my largest scale building project to date.

    Yes I had concrete contractors do the vapour barrier. Additional cost was so minimal it would have been stupid not to.

    My project yesterday ;

    I milled baseboard material for my house out of a bunch of rag tag fugitive boards I had in various stash piles , most were wider boards ( 1x6 and 1x8 ) that had edges broken or were cracked or had pitch seams , about 1/4 were old flooring boards that had broken T&G edges

    5 wheelbarrow loads of sawdust and 8 hours on the tablesaw and thickness planer

    Thanks

    I was happy to use up all this material , some of these boards have literally been hanging around for 10 years

    That is a lot of work. Are those the finished product or are you going to put a profile on the baseboards? Are you going to stain or paint the finished product?

    No milled profile , my trims are all Craftsman style , there will be another 3/8"x1" "hat" on top of these boards which will produce the final profile

    The trims throughout my house are all clear coated with Varathane , so they will look like the window trims in the picture of the stackec baseboard material

    OZ I assume you don't have a bunch of pics of your house projects posted somewhere, but if you do I'd like to see them, your workmanship and design is really great to look at

    Hey Oz, how does the Varathane hold up to moisture/physical abuse?

    Wanting to treat my workbench top and shelf with something that will not let moisture absorb.

    How would Varathane compare to Polyurethane?
