What's that big gap against the wall (3rd Pic) on the left? Bad scribe?

I have a spot really close that I can mount one, we’ll see if they calm down after I build the privacy fence extension first. Maybe I can wire up a switch so I can turn it on and off from in the house and not just leave it on all the time.

I’ve just seen them before, never used them myself but I hope it’ll work if I end up needing one.

Maybe just rough cut, cover with trim. Cut for base board.

    Just a guess.

Alright fellas, long time lurker, first time posting in this thread. Having some foundation work done, started yesterday, should be completed today. Having some piers installed. When these guys finish the install, anything particular I should look for (other than a level floor)?

    Thanks!

Basement is making good progress. Structural and electrical inspections passed with flying colors and insulation inspection is today. Should be finished in the next week or two.

It's an R-15 insulation, that's really all I know. We added it to dampen the noise between levels a bit. I'm overseas right now and my wife is dealing with the contractor, who has been fantastic to this point.

It looks like drywall or gypsum board but the screw spacing does not look right. That is why I ask. I guess I am used to 6” screw spacing on drywall edges, but this manufacturer snip says 12” minimum. So I will carry on. :pout:

Sorry, yep that portion of the ceiling is drywall. Thanks for pointing out the screw spacing, I'll ask him about that today...most of those are definitely greater than 12".

Honestly, I would ask them what the MFG recommendation for ceiling fastener spacing is. Most drywall folks are very aware of the instructions, its when you get a handy man in who does drywall once a year that you have to be concerned IMHO. This is what I am referencing https://www.usg.com/content/dam/USG...-gypsum-panels-installation-guide-en-J371.pdf :notsure::notsure: My intent is not for you to get in a fight with your contractor.
    upload_2022-2-25_10-57-39.jpg
Take this installation for example, looks like the centers are the same spacing as yours @4x4Taco2012 but ceilings require more fasteners...

Thanks, I appreciate the info! I wasn't planning to come at him with a questioning attitude, he's a great contractor (and guy!) that has educated us along the way. He's been building and renovating homes in our immediate area for over 30 years so I'm confident in him and his crew, but I'll ask about the MFG's recommendation. Thanks for looking out.

My guy has been doing it since the 80's so he knows whats going on. Though Im having him just put another layer of sheetrock over top of the existing popcorn ceiling. So yeah, its getting more fasteners than needed most likely.
