I use the blue tape when I paint.

However, I peel the tape up a couple of minutes after I paint. This way, the paint is not drawn under the tape as it dries.

This is the key. Peel off after painting when still wet.

The more I use frog tape the less I like it. Just doesn’t seem to hold very well. Usually the adhesive will peel up after a little while. Doesn’t adhere like the 3m blue stuff.

Must be climate differences. I used frog tape in my mud room on November before it got too cold out. Even ran a space heater out there just to keep it warm for the paint to dry. Frog tape wouldn’t stick more than 5 min before lifting. Came back 20 min later and almost full pieces completely off. Went down stairs in my basement and found a roll 3m blue. Held up like a champ. I do like removing the front tape better, mainly because it doesn’t seem to bond as well, and usually comes off in one piece. Maybe it’s just a bad roll. I’ve bought frog tape before and didn’t remember having as much trouble. I just know once I close on my new house I think I’m gonna stick with the 3m blue for my projects

I find Frog tape to be better if both are fresh. Both go to hell if stored in a HOT garage over summer. Blue tape just gets dry and bitchy. Green won't stick as well and the edge is no better than blue. Store both sealed with your wine in cool dark place.

Did I mention I HATE painting?

It takes a truly special person to do that stuff for a living.

I know it’s like anything, once you do it you excel, and have a lot of tricks. Those guys are quick and know how to work smarter and not harder, but that’s still something I wouldn’t want to do every day for a living. God bless them

Did you keep the roll sealed in the container? I also had a rep tell me that if the rolls dry out, they don't work well and to have people put a few drops of water in the container and let the tape sit in the sealed container for a few hours to refresh it.

Yes it was still in the container. After wards I took it out and just threw it in a tool box I believe. Never heard/knew about it needing some moisture. If anything I figured it had too much moisture

I knew it wasn't ideal but WTF was I going to do when it required 7+ hours between coats? No way in hell the 2nd masking application would be exactly like the 1st, so there was bound to be edge issues. *Shrug* I'll just hit the ugly spots with the smallest hobby brush I can find.

Yes, taping for 2 coats is a PITA.

When I install trim, I prime and paint (1st coat) before installing the trim. Once installed, I fill the nail holes, caulk, then tape and paint. That way, I only have to paint one coat once installed. And only 1 tape application.

Glad I did a second coat even if it wasn't needed it does seem more even and consistent.

    Time to PAINT IT BLACK.

Got the lamp base and register sprayed.

On another point, anything I can do about condensation due to what I assume is compromised seals on double pane windows?

Welcome to Florida. Our house does this sometimes, we have to keep the air circulation up. We run ceiling fans 24/7.

    Ugh.

Florida why are you like this!?

    :bananadead:

At least it's been cool and frankly I like the thunderstorms.

Roof must have some good insulation as I can't hardly hear the rain on my tin roof which came as a surprise.

I can tell a difference between coat 1 and coat 2. It looks good after that second coat. Very even. I don’t think the single coat was enough, but I’m an OCD perfectionist. It’s why I hate paining so much. I’ll sit in a room that I painted and know where every mistake is, drives me nuts.
