We have this in common. The older craftsmen that taught me were the same, hated it at the time (young buck) but now I'm thankful for their willingness to teach me (old as dirt now). DO IT ONCE, DO IT RIGHT! And yes good reputation keeps you working (I don't advertise all word of mouth)

The homeowner was unsure of what stone work they're going to use. They are also unsure of how big of an overhang they actually want on the countertop and the countertop material for that matter. With those facts we agreed to leave it as is until I have the info I need.

But basically they'll be a small pony wall built up under there with 1/2-in hardy backer on both sides.

FINALLY done. came out great IMO.

I started nailing planks on then realized it would be better to stain the base plywood so you wouldnt see the gaps as easy. adjusted the board and played a game. im very happy with it.

I MAY add trim around the boarder but other than that im done

    Looks great!

I considered using different colors of stain for my theater room but opted for just one.

Hi thread I have a couple of questions.

I’m redoing my master suite, with all new bathroom and closet and all.

one question, is there an insulation you’d recommend for soundproofing that isn’t too much more expensive than standard fiberglass? Older home so it’s not very sound proof but I’d like to help that out when I can.

next question a bit more in depth. When I’m doing the new shower I want to do at least 2 shower heads, perhaps 3. One will be a rainfall. Are there any tips or tricks I need to know to make sure if multiple heads are running I’m not gonna lose pressure at the other? And any plumbing don’t do’s when doing multiple heads?

    thanks in advance.

I've used this before and it reduces sound very well.rockwool-mineral-wool-insulation-rxss31525-64_400.jpg

Good to know. Does it go up like standard insulation?

Yes, rockwool is what is recommended for sound insulation. And it goes up just like normal pink stuff.

Yes, but even easier in my opinion. While your wife isn't looking, steal the big bread knife out of the kitchen to use to cut it!

Rockwool is kind of the standard sound proofing insulation for home theater rooms so it should serve you well.
    Disclaimer - I'm not a plumber.

My shower has a wand shower head and also a fixed head that surrounds the wand. There are also two body jets. When all of them are running, there is absolutely a drop in pressure. Short of plumbing them individually and having to deal with multiple mixing valves, I don't know how you'd avoid that. I hope you find a solution.

Yeah we’ve had one before like that and lost pressure. That was in a different house that a flush of the toilet would affect the shower too haha. This house we haven’t noticed that kind of stuff happen but I don’t know why not. It is a much larger house so maybe they do things differently but idk.

I just know when the wife and I shower together I’m gonna want a rain shower head on as well as one wall head but if that wall head has no pressure that will be no bueno.

Do you have a sketch of how you want the shower laid out? It's sounding like it might be easier to run two dedicated setups so when you shower together everything would work independently.

No sketch, could put one together. But draw a rectangle with one wall shower head on both narrower sides, and a rain head right in the top middle.

like i said could go with one wall shower head and the rain head too. Just depends.

Last remodel I worked on, the owners wanted similar set up. Everything was dedicated and plumbed to maintain pressure. Problem the owners didn’t foresee was that their current water heating system couldn’t keep up with the flow. We ended up upgrading to a new system to accommodate their love of long showers. All that to say, make sure you have enough hot water to support multiple heads.

Definitely good on hot water. House has 3 water heaters and a solar system for 300 gallons of preheated hot water. Solar system isn’t currently operable but my wife takes long ass showers now and we don’t run out of hot water.
