Almost all my nailers are Senco brand but there are other good ones out there , I just have had no reason to try any other brand

You're full fledge construction badass, currently I'm more of the building raised beds on weekends and want to DIY all my furniture kind of person

Lot of off brands on HD.com, tons of porter cable kits, dewalt, ridgid, etc. Just curious if the "free" nailer is worth getting a kit for or if it's really a junk item that makes it sound like a good buy to people like me. A nailer and tire inflator is the extent of my needs currently, outside of HVLP painting on rare occasion

I have numax/freeman and they have worked for me. They are homeowner grade tools I suspect since they have a lower price point then the senco, bostich, etc brands.

Assumed so given the massive price differential, but for $299 the Rigid dual stack is intriguing and looks like a good setup for a weekend warrior. Or Porter Cable kit for $130 less with air line and nailer, smaller setup but not sure it's a better purchase, the compressor is the heart, if it's reliable then nailers and other things are secondary purchases

I have a porter cable pancake compressor that has spent the last 5 years in the bed of my truck. The pressure gauges are sheared off but other than that its held up very well for its price and abuse.

And the PC nailers that came with have survived my crews. Other than the nose obscuring the view making very accurate nailing a slight pain they aren't bad.

I only have two things to add about compressors.

There are four old compressors of varying brands around (Dad has two, grandma one, farm one) and 3 of them have rusted through the tank. All of them are kept under a roof but otherwise open to the elements (temperature, humidity). If I were buying one I would make sure to drain the water from the tank frequently. Also if you are considering doing any painting, especially automotive, you will need a large one. I do not know the volume of the one dad uses for painting but the tank is around 5' tall.

I failed to post this up here when I completed it. Had to patch a lot of holes. Took two coats of primer and two coats of paint, but I got the room done and moved into it. Next thing on my list is to change the locks.

I bought the Dewalt 15 gallon 200 psi compressor. I love it.

I have a pancake compressor that I bought from Lowe's. I was using it to put texture on my walls. The old compressor would have to refill every time I did a 4 foot section of wall. With the new one, I could almost make it through the entire hopper before the compressor would even kick on (it kicked on at about 120 psi).

To reduce the cost to me, I had some airline miles that I traded in for an Amazon gift card.

Thanks! It's way better than the way it looked when my sister lived in it. Purple and blue walls, black trim, and a giant black tree painted on one wall.

Compressors are actually rated for what they will do. So that's something to keep in mind when searching for one. The psi of your pancake was fine for the texturing but its capacity was much too low.
