Take a close look at the black wire terminal haha I’m guessing that was the screw holding it to the wall at some point.

My guess is it’s one of the ones to hold it to the wall and it backed out and fell back in the box haha no telling how long it’s been like that.

Random question regarding electricity at work. We have an outlet that seems to be functioning as a switch, killing power to the fridge when the microwave that is plugged into that outlet turns off.

Fridge starts up and powers on when microwave is ran for heating food. When cycle is done, fridge power dies. The Base electrician (civilian) seems stumped and keeps marking the job off as complete without fixing it.

    The hell?

I suspect a wonky breaker or outlet.

    What has he replaced?

There is a chance that the neutral and hot are switched on the outlet. Do you have one of these? They could also be wired in series instead of parallel if the refrigerator is further out on the circuit then the fridge might cut out on low voltage when the microwave is running. Why hasn’t the electrician run a separate circuit 20amp for the microwave?

    Haha!

Too freaking heavy is what they are. Built in place out of 3/4" plywood. I had to chop that up with the sawzall to get it out by myself. Gonna save some of the shelves out of the bottom ones to reuse in a few closets. Sure beats paying for the wire closetmaid ones when all these need are a few brackets and a coat of paint.

Sounds like the "electrician" is closer to a handyman.

If it is a long existing problem it may have been wired incorrectly.
Existing or new it is one of those jobs where you have to trace out the wires and open every box to check the connections, something is loose or just wrong somewhere.

Situations like this often show up when you lose a leg for the service entrance, every other breaker in the panel will be dead.
When a 240 volt device like a water heater attempts to come on the power will pass through the heating element and power the dead side of the panel at a low level giving very dim lights and all kinds of weird readings.

BTW: The wave and fridge should each have their own dedicated circuits.

Please be sure to let us know the outcome.

because it’s the base NAVFAC civilians and it’s like the sloth in Zootopia getting anything done. They also have had limited electricins on staff for some time due to low pay (according to the other I talked to fixing something else). My aircraft electricians, avionic techs, and I were fussing with it today, they had the circuit testers and such and it didn’t show anything negative. Power was getting to outlet and breakers weren’t tripped. We are thinking a bad outlet honestly. The fridge is down line from the outlet, has been for many years and they never had an issue with it.

At least yours is lighter colored!

(yes the cats aren't supposed to be up there, but they were being little assholes!)

Although a lot of that is probably attributed to the copious amounts of tobacco over they years from the previous owner. I don't have the money to tear them all out, so the faces are going to get cleaned, sanded, primed, and painted. Best I can do at this point. They're all solid wood and are in good shape. Some paint and new hardware will do wonders.

The previous owners planted these pine trees by the pool. They've been there about 10 years, were getting way too big and I was concerned the roots were going to crack the pool. Since my avocado tree decided it doesn't want to grow in AZ I returned it to Home Depot and got two of these Pygmy Date Palms as almost free replacements.

I started yesterday afternoon and finished this morning. The stumps were a good 2 feet into the ground.
