I had a pos gate at street for the longest time. Broken welds. Tiewired together. Zipties. Pissed everybody off. But the kids were climbing it and draggin it across the drive. Once one kid moved out and the other started driving I went to tractor supply got a new one and a wheel. It's lasting a lot better.
I need to slow down some when doing carpentry but I get in a rush to get shit done cuz I have so much to do. Do it right or do it twice is what I preach at work but when I get home different story.

I actually thought of doing one of those so I could ask people these questions three. I had drawings for the tar caldroun tipping mechanism on the top cross piece, too.

Did the stairs this weekend. We used the same hardwood flooring that we've laid in the rest of the house. The company that makes it sold a bullnose piece for the end of the step. The bullnose was $80 for a 7' piece. My stairs were around 41" wide so I was able to get two pieces from one long one.

Here is before. We started pulling carpet
    stairs4.jpg

    Took off the old paneling.
    stairs3.jpg

Patched the wall where the plywood was glued to the drywall and filled in some minor holes.
    stairs35.jpg

Primed, textured and painted to match the existing walls. The flooring is glued down with Locktite PL3x Premium glue.

A look down at the step.

Thanks. It was a lot of work. My pastor's wife said she saw a show where the guy told the renovator it would cost $120 per step for a contractor to do that with hardwood flooring just because of all the cuts.

    X2,

I've honestly never even thought of doing a joint down the centre of the risers, it looks good

When I started, I was going to pull out just long boards for the risers but it would have left me with a bunch of short pieces (the planks vary from 2 feet to 5 feet). Once I put a seam in the middle, I just went with it for the rest of them.

It was a lot of measuring and cutting. Each step was slightly different in width (41 to 41 1/4). The depth was pretty consistent so I just set up my table saw to cut the width of the back pieces on the step.

The riser step was just a little to short to meet the bullnose (about 5/8" too short) so I made my own tongue-n-groove filler pieces out of some scrap flooring.

We're going to continue the flooring upstairs into the master bedroom.

Hey Joshua , you seen this before ?

I was applying a curved , kerfed baseboard with the PL Premium polyurethane subfloor adhesive in the kerfs as described earlier , and squirted in some Titebond 3 to fill the voids and had some weird reaction between the two I didn't have upstairs , the Titebond keeps bubbling up to the surface , I've cleaned it off a couple times now and it just keeps boiling up

I think the Titebond was suffocating the PL Premium . Same tube of PL and same bottle of Titebond

I've never applied titebond and poly so no clue. Clearly an odd reaction between the two. I think titebonde has a really good customer help center from what I've heard. If you have any open do a bench test. The way they work I can't imagine the reaction but I'm no chemist.

Pl needs some air so that would be a correct guess. I usually don't mix glues or sealents until full cure. They can create some interesting situations
