My bulkhead stairs were rotten and collapsed on me last fall. I reinforced them just well enough to get my pellets in, then ripped them out this spring and painted the concrete to make it look a little cleaner. I put in Bilco galvanized stringers tonight - great product! Done in one hour start to finish. I wasn't thrilled with using just concrete nails, plus they only give you enough to use about half the holes. So, I used those and filled the rest of the spots in with some tapcons I had laying around.

Next task is to rip out the rotten door frame and terrible plywood door at the bottom and frame in an actual exterior door. I figure that way I can leave the bulkhead unlocked and key the door at the bottom to the rest of the house so I can get in without going through the house.

It was originally my grandfathers then made its way to my uncles house. Whenever they sold the house it went into storage. They cleaned out the storage unit and somehow I wound up with all the stuff. I had nowhere to permanently keep it and I don't do any serious woodworking, so guy at work bought the lot (and the dryer, lol). Also sold that fancy bike for $400!

Under normal circumstances the panel breaker (50 amp in your case) would protect the wire and the outside breaker (60) serves as a local disconnect switch at the unit for servicing.

The big problem is the 50 amp breaker on the #10 wire, way over the wire rating.
What is the nameplate amp draw of the unit?

I was going to say the same thing - I wonder if the condenser really needs a 50 amp breaker, even with the 25% over constant load rule. My 3 ton Daikin split units in my server rooms at work are on 30 amp breakers.

Thanks! I thought about doing it all in wood, but these will last forever and were much less work.

I have 3 of the Dewalt portables and they get beat up , used in thr rain and last , $650 doesn't seem expensive to me for a decent portable

Lol you made me go look at mine. Older house and a previous owner who did some questionable stuff. But I think the ac was hired out. 50amp breaker in the panel and then a 30amp "fuse" for the "disconnect". But they ran 6awg which is a surprise.

Primary bath progress. Not me. Not even my money. Honestly, having already done my dream bathroom once, I’m ambivalent. But a level slab and 4 walls and I’d be in heaven. Oh to have a shop someday.

Looks like it? Not familiar tbh. The guy doing this work has our trust, he's done a few of these I guess. Excited for the window to go in someday, shower is a cave.

If I'm reading this right, it's 50 amps. I ran it for the first time this season and the wires felt cool to the touch. I really don't want to deal with running a larger wire. :'(

I just measured the voltage at the disconnect while running and it's 239v. The voltage is good because it's either a short run from the main panel or because the 50amps is only startup current of the compressor. I have little to no experience with HVAC so I'm just guessing here
