what about beveling the trim on the window side so that the appearance for the lowest finished edge is the same, but the respective pieces are angled in/out to match up to the skylights location?

That's a good idea on the sides that are tight. But that would leave me with miters in the corners of potentially different bevels/profiles.

I'm still left with the sides that where the gap is too great.

If its attached by screws through the frame from the inside , undo the screws and centre the skylight and re-install the screws

It's attached from outside. I can't move it. I just went and did some mock-ups using different thickness trim boards. 1x4 will work the best. It'll join the Skylight at the jamb. The reveal will be slightly different on each side and top/bottom. I'll use some cove moulding on the bottom edge to transition/ease that edge. I'll paint it all white and it'll blend right in with the skylight. Most people will probably never see the difference.

Assuming this is going into a bathroom the 2 transition pieces hiding an older floor and a newer one both transitions are probably print over MDF, prying them up may break them, there seems to be no nails so there is a receiver track holding them in place. A threshold similar to What soundman98 said may have to be made and finished the transitions are a low and a high profile ones it looks like it could be done with a table saw to adjust the lights and width I'm not sure what floor was laid first but the guy who did it probably didn't know how the first transition was attached. You should be able to come up with something custom. Several years ago I had to make a 7 1/2'' transition for a basement door into a creepy quiet room that had a sound proof retractable sweep in an acoustical door that covered some floor and carpet issues.

    33467 follow up.

Amongst all the other projects I also got the door ready for final paint over the weekend.

    final patch:
    upload_2024-1-16_11-34-25.png

Also routed out the existing latch mortises cause they were poorly done, and didn't match the shape of the new hardware:
    upload_2024-1-16_11-35-45.png

    upload_2024-1-16_11-37-17.png

Ended up springing for a new door jam kit and stops. The patch is visible through the primer, but I am pretty sure the finished paint will cover it completely.

As a follow up to the weather striping situation, I eventually found what I was looking for. It's actually pre installed in the door stops @ Home Depot.

Product description is incorrect, it's 1/2"...

Gotta get the boss to figure out what trim she wants. Probably more modern, and then I'll have to do the whole house... I installed the new jambs as flush as I could to the interior drywall, but the drywall is anything but consistent along it's edge... so not really sure how to address that.. they previously just filled the gaps with caulk.

Next project for the laundry room is gluing up a big slab of wood for the folding table top.

I would cut the back of the trim so it can act like an extension jamb by running a saw blade set at a hight to leave a1/2'' ledge on the inside portion.

Got those skylights trimmed out. The one in the bath (white walls) was the one that was out of center. You can see the difference in the reveal. Nothing I could really do. The multiple shadow lines help hide it. Forgot to get a pic with the cove moulding on this one. That cove moulding softens the edge of the 1x4 nicely. Customer didn't even notice the difference in the reveal and I don't point those things out. I pre-painted the trim to get a jump start. I'll head back tomorrow to quickly touch up where I filled nail holes. Had hoped to pre-assemble the box, but the opening was quite a bit narrower on the room side, no dice. I'll get pics after final paint tomorrow. I put some insulation in the space that was once where the old skylight frames met the drywall.

    Ladder work with trim....good times.

Here's the BR. This was crooked by about 3/16". It's also noticeable in the reveal.

Bathroom progressing nicely....got up the Schluter Kerdi board walls. then pan and tile. Making round walls flat is not easy.

Spent this week building a bunk bed for some folks. Two queens on the bottom and two fulls on top. Kiln dried D Select. A thousand feet of planing, sanding and routing later. lol

Thanks. I don't post photos of my work often but sometimes you get a really cool project. This was one of those.

Nice work! Looks like the piece belongs, I like the ladder centered on the top bunk window.

Idk if this counts as home improvement but changed out the capacitor on my basement heat pump. Can’t read a single label on this unit but it’s easily 15+ years old
