    Hello all.

I do a lot of lurking, but not much posting.

I have a question about the finish to use on the interior side of windows. We are having a couple of windows replaced shortly. They will be the Renewal by Anderson products, with the wood veneer interior.

What products/brands would you recommend to use to stain and seal for a long lasting finish?

Because I have used these on other smaller/ less important projects, my current plan is to use Minwax Gel Stain, and clear Minwax Polycrylic Sealer (window site suggests fast-drying-ployacrylic finish) . I am concerned about the durability aspect, and wanted to get some suggestions from those of you who, have been there done that, and learned a lesson.

Thank you for any guidance provided.
    Ken

A guy called me to finish his pavilion. He paid the contractor in full and he hasn’t seen the guy in 1-2 months, half finished and a butcher job to boot…none of the rafters are square nor consistently centered 16”-24” at random and the birds mouth doesn’t set on the beam…nail misses gallore. As a general contractor myself, i absolutely hate it when other contractors take advantage of a client like this... it makes general contractors as a whole a bad reputation

If you can't hit a 2x more then 1/2 the time you sure as hell aren't going to be able to figure out the proper compound angle for jack rafters. Even though it's written on every framing square ever made. lol

The owner told me he guessed at the birds mouth and cut it with a sawzall. They’re nowhere’s close to the correct angle

Math is hard. Granted, if you plan on doing a cut and stack roof you should be able to do it at least the 5th grade level. Guess this guy never got that memo.

This is a prime example of the majority of contractors in the northeast. If I had to estimate, 7/10 maybe 8/10 are this incompetent/apathetic.

Insurance finally settled. Work is progressing. I could have done it myself twice with as long as this has taken to get approved.

Came home to water in the Garage at the end of August. Had rotted out the subfloor and footer along the back wall. Previous owner who fancied himself a DYIer improperly installed the tile. The project manager has seen it. I’m leaving it up to them to figure it out. Don’t have time…
