Getting better The wind has finally stopped, making so much Noise and it seems like the weather has move beyond my location. For the most part. I slept for a few hours but then woke up around 1 o'clock and while laying here I heard a crunch in the distance of what sounded like a huge branch Hitting a metal roof.

    I'll post pics tomorrow.

Wow I’m seeing the flooding in Lakeland area I feel very blessed as we never lost power and didn’t see any real flooding issues. Many homes in the neighborhood lost roofs and carports, gutters, windows along with many 50/75 yr old oak trees down.

2 day job replacing cedar clapboards on this 1912 Cape dormer. They were right on the roof and all dry rot on the ends. 12/12 pitch roof, so assistance is required. Had a ladder braced upon the roof. The dormer wasn't plumb, so simple 45 & 90 degree cuts didn't work. After some trial and error, 47.5/90 was the formula for the courses to run level and tight up against the dormer trim. The guy I was working for wasn't able to comprehend the required cuts...ugh. So I had to cut, fit, seal cut ends with shellac and instal each piece myself. 3 ladders trips per piece. Left 3/4" space along the roof. The step flashing was in good shape. Got everything bottoned up and painted today (2nd coat). 1st coat was applied on the ground before installing.

Does anyone know if the window code requirements for a bedroom of 5.7 sq ft opening space applies to existing homes, or is that a new construction code only?

if it applies to older homes I hate to break it to a lot of folks, including myself, that most bedrooms aren’t “bedrooms” then

Older homes are grandfathered. It applies only from the year the code was adopted onward.

I feel your pain. I've got a 130 year old house myself with a similar pitched roof. Can't walk up it or you'll slide down and fall off.

Good morning crew. I need to put stair rails in a townhouse I purchased for my daughter & grandson. Any tips? Is there a specific height they should be above the floor? Thanks in advance for your advice.
