I had to relocate some duct from the HVAC to begin the PEX A and this is what I find…IMG_8329.jpg a few other joints with big holes as well. We recently (4 months back) had a new HVAC installed. Quality work is non existant in the northeast.

Is that the flue? Seems like a lot of condensation coming back.

Since the condensate is acidic, it accelerates corrosion of metal wherever it comes in contact.

If that’s 4 months I would call them back and see if they have proper airflow to prevent potential health risks as well.

This is a gas furnace right?

I agree. If it were mine I would have workers replace at their cost expense, or replace it myself the correct way.

Finally got the Rockwool up in my crawlspace this weekend. With a lot of help from my old man. What a chore..

Rockwool Comfortbatt was the only option in my area to fit 24" OC x 5.5" (R23). The stuff is not super fun to work with overhead.. We used insulation wires to hold it up as we went, but I need to strap the entire thing with 1x3s as time allows. Even the wires aren't doing a great job

Started with two straps. Now Im thinking three per 48" batt, unless anyone recommends something else

I've always seen the wire run zig-zagged
could do a mesh like bird netting
or hardware cloth if you're looking for rodent blocking

Only half decent picture I have here but a friend of mine wants help putting in some oak hardwood flooring over the old pine plank subfloor. I am thinking the best way to do this would be to put 1/2" plywood or something over the subfloor first since the oak will have to run parallel to the subfloor in order to be perpendicular to the joists.

That floor would end up almost 1.25 in higher than any other adjacent room doing that
