starting a renno of my laundry closet... pretty sorry as it was, ...i just removed the fugly wire shelving, ... plan is:

    - some minor drywall patching/fixup...
    - paint ("lunar light" by behr, >>> than old contractor flat white as it is now..)
    - cabinets: two 30x30 two-door wall cabinets; color dark brown maple...
    - table/countertop to put over washer dryer; plan to fabricate a mounting system so it's easily removable to access washer/dryer, hoses, etc...
    - floor - since this closet is tied to the kitchen, ..will hold off doing floor job until ready to do full kitchen remodel...

Ok, here are some before and after pics of the bathroom I just remodeled. As you can see it started as a lovely 50's shade of pink and yellow.

I gutted everything, and I mean everything. New insulation, sheet rock, ceiling, tub, vanity, subfloor, plumbing. The only thing that didn't change is the toilet, luckily the previous owners installed a Toto.

It took a couple months, but I had took some vacation and I occasionally have to travel for work. I am very please the way everything turned out. The only thing I didnt do was the tub and mixing valve which I had a plumber install, and the installation of the tile. My dad, who is a stone mason installed the tile while I made all the cuts and I grouted it in the next day.

I installed some nice baseboard molding, which you cant see in any of the pictures.
I still have a couple items on the punch list to clean up, but its 99.9% of the way there

Thanks, I couldn't be happier with it!

It helps having a stone mason in the family, I got all the granite in the bathroom(counter, walls & floor) for free. It definitely save me a ton of money with DIY

On the floor, I added plywood to get it to the right height then a layer of 1/4 hardibacker and tile/thin set right over that.

For the shower walls, I put in 1/2 densshield up and used hydraban with mesh on the screw holes and joints. Then used a very high quality thinset right over that.

I've done so much work on the inside of this place since I bought it in October of last year decied to give it a face lift on sunday. Pulled out the 4x4s replaced them with 4x6s, new light fixture, new pin pad lock, new (working) doorbell, painted the door, address numbers, and mail slot. I pulled the very ugly plastic phony shutters a couple weeks ago they where that same neon piss yellow. Hope I can get dual pane windows some time next year.

Finally ticked a job off my home list today .

Built my wife some shelving for canned goods etc in a pantry area we have under our basement stairs

The shelves are 3/4" laquered maple plywood with a VG fir face frame biscuit jointed to the shelf units

It's as easy or hard as you want to make it . The main thing with a pergola is to make sure you have sufficient post depth in the ground to carry a totally top-heavy load

I'm not sure about how bad your winters are there , but if you don't set your posts below the frost line , you could get heaving and movement .

So , to make sure I got this right , you are building a square , 12' x 12' pergola , with a post in each corner only , yes ?
