Basement and kitchen came out great! I have the same countertop.

Nothing special. Yesterday put in a new hot water heater. Would love to go tankless, but just not in the budget currently. The old one was 24 years old. Still worked, but by an end of a shower or tub fill, it was out of hot water. So I actually took a shower with out constant adjusting and running out of hot water!

How much did the water heater run you and how big is it?

Was $419. 40 gallon with a 9 year warranty. Which I didn't think was too bad. Rated pretty good too. The old one was a Rheem too. So I figured if the old one lasted 24 years. Maybe the new one will too.

I have the room for bigger, but don't think it's necessary.

It goes into a larger vent pipe through the roof. Used to be used for both furnace and water heater. Now is just for the water heater. No power vent.

LOL The top yellowed because it's so old. I'd say it's a '78 model.

I've had good luck with this one- http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-12-gal-5-PHP-Wet-Dry-Vacuum-WD1270/202554972

from cleaning up 2" of water in my basement when my old water heater took a shit, to cleaning up saw dust, spackle dust, even home heating oil when I removed the old oil tank.

I really want one that I can wall mount and then put on wheels if need be. Not sure if one is like that out there. I saw rigid does make a wall mount version that comes off easily but no wheels.

    Torn between these two currently:

    http://www.amazon.com/Vacmaster-VBV1210-Detachable-Blower-Vacuum/dp/B0023EY052/ref=pd_cp_hi_0

I like the size and optional blower configuration for the garage/home use. I also hate the size because half my gripes with shop vacs are the awkwardness of dragging them around.

Then there is this option which I can wall mount and use around the house and it won't be a nightmare.

oh goody a "show us your shop vac" thread. :D Here's mine http://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGID-4-gal-Wet-Dry-Vacuum-WD4070/202077241 I had a big 16 gallon one, but it was such a pain to lug around I got rid of it and bought the smaller one. Works great for what I need.

I'm kind of a Shop Vac brand fan boy when comes to them. I don't know why. Just have always liked them. And they don't seem to die. I actually want a new one, but can't justify it while mine still works.
Mine is very similar to this:
It's over 10 years old if not older. And I abuse it. It still keeps going. While using it for water clean up I've had water blowing out the exhaust multiple times. When it runs now it has an interesting burning smell. But still works great. :notsure:
