Don't you have some uninsulated wires you should be holding for 4x4?

IMHO it's better to cry once when you buy a quality tool than to "save" money and cry every time you use it. If a Forest Service shovel is what you want, make your wallet cry, then tell it to shut up, and buy the tool you really want.

My current love it a 1/2" Dewalt hammer drill. I had, I'm ashamed to admit, a 1/2" harbor freight POS. The thing was a safety hazard to use and when the trigger stuck on one too many times I pitched it. I'll admit spending $150 for a drill is a lot of money for me, but after drilling several 1" holes in concrete and 4" holes for my new dryer vent I think it was money well spent.

I was walking around Home Depot yesterday and found tyvek house wrap and thought maybe that would be a good option. It made me realize the stuff that was originally in the wall was pretty similar to tyvek but maybe a tar based product.

Then I did some research and it's a water barrier, not a vapor barrier, so essentially it sounds like it won't do anything unless there is water coming through the block wall.

I am interested in what would be the proper way to handle this but I don't know if I actually need a vapor barrier. Also I read somewhere that a few coats of latex paint is supposed to create a vapor barrier on the sheet rock :notsure:

Update for today.. Too tired to post a pic.. Replaced the entire subfloor with 3/4" t&g ply, glued and screwed. And replaced all the 4" cast iron sewer stack with abs pipe.

Moisture / vapour retarder vs vapour barrier

They make vapour barrier paint you can't just use any paint

I suggest using mould resistant drywall too for a minimal increase in cost over regular drywall

Is green board or moisture resistant drywall the same as mold resistant?

    No , not green board

Look for mold / mould resistant , pretty certain you can get it at Home Depot

Yes. I felt it coming all week, but I had one night to go before I could finish the last part.

    Motherducker.

Hard part is, they're back in there. and not easy to get out. I'll start the boom box shortly, and bang around a lot in there once I start working, and then fire the signal horn from the other side to make them shit themselves and bolt (I hope) right before I am ready to seal it up...

I really don't want decaying skunk carcass sealed under my shed holding all my outdoor gear....

PS the pile of flagstone was from me covering a small entry hole earlier this week. But they can shift unset flags.

My awesome efforts worked as planned, thank you. He got between a couple poorly set flags with large gaps in front of the shed door...which is the last segment I planned to fix today.

What pisses me off is this entire area and the materials used by the previous owner and the execution are just shitty. I'd rather take a Bobcat to the whole affair, but this is not the time, and I need the storage for now.

Somebody else's shed nearby, from what I can tell. Nowhere else around the house or garage foundation has this potential. I've heard stories from others nearby who have had a skunk under the house. Gadzooks.

It's a dense older neighborhood, and the pros have told me that skunks tend to circulate among several dens. This matches with what I've observed. But once they have kits, they stay put. This is my main concern now. Make sure mine is the least attractive for raising another generation of baby skunks and the delightful fleas that come with them.

LOL read several pages back...or threads across. Not an option, and wouldn't solve the long-term problem

Honestly, a few nights ago, I was ready to sit up all night with the .303 and a spotlight getting my Carl the Groundskeeper act on, but there would be 20 squad cars and a helicopter on site in about 60 seconds if I squozed any rounds off.

Checked my stuff. It's green in color so idk if it's "green board" or just green, but the label says mold tough moisture resistant Sheetrock.

    Update for today:

-Ran all the electrical wiring and installed all the boxes.

    -installed tub

    - insulated 3 out of 4 walls.

-Installed sheet rock on 3 out of 4 walls.
