House looks sweet , love the gardens .

From the picture and your description the roofing product sounds like something along the lines of Monier Lifetile , and looks to be their Slate or Country Slate line

We used the Evergreen blend on a big house I recently built

Wow. Beautiful backyard. The only thing that is missing is some nice big shade trees!

Has anyone ordered anything from Fauxpanels.com?

I ordered some sample squares to check out the look. They get good user reviews. The panels are a little pricey (about $10-11/sq ft) but they look like they're very easy to install (just an adhesive). There's no mortaring which I'm not that familiar with. My wife and I are planning on doing some interior walls and perhaps the kitchen backsplash.

... ^^^ ... IMO ... very expensive ... and for that price, I think that I could do real stacked stone (me and 2 helpers & all materials).

PS ... I really liked the concrete roofing tiles ... :D

It is expensive I know, but it would be done in a day and it can be done over the existing walls without any prep work or mess. I'm probably looking at about $2000 total for the materials.

Whats up guys? I just bought my first house and am looking at some remodels/ garage addition. Thought I would poke my head in here and see what others have done.

Im looking at redoing my kitchen and bathroom entirely, or adding a detached garage. The house was built in 1905 and has original wood floors (which are awesome), but the put laminate flooring over the bathroom (its in pretty bad shape) and I was wondering if I would need to redo the flooring before putting tile down in the bathroom. Is there a good way to check beisdes ripping it all up? I have access to the crawlspace under the bathroom if that helps.

    Thanks guys

...remove the laminate to see the subfloor, ...might want to look underneath to see the type/profile/spacing of the floor joists - since this is the foundation for good tile setting... basically floor needs to be "stiff" enough under nominal live and dead loading... for ceramin/porcelein L/360 deflection or lower deflection is recommended,.. for stone, L/720 or lower is recommended... more info on this at johnbridge.com

Awesome, thanks for the info. Looks like its going to be a much bigger job than anticipated. Im going to have to replace/reinforce the subfloor. It being 107 years old, it squeeks and moves a bit when you walk around on it.
