I am 5 minutes from finishing my interior walls. Except one room, and touch ups.

Painting is my least favorite home improvement project. It's the primary reason my patio cover build is taking so damn long.

Nice! Done now? I'm glad as hell to be done. I played hell trying to find space for all my books when I was putting the room together after painting. I'm down a large bookshelf, since my big sister moved back in and took over my room. The whole top of my closet is books, and those two little bookshelves.

I would much rather paint then do drywall.

I used to think that I hated painting until I had to stain some wood, I hate stain much more than paint

Poured the pad for my air compressor shed/lean-to/closet. 96°F with 46% humidity.

Thanks. It'll probably be unnecessary, but I'm going to put some acoustic foam on the shop side of the shed and I'll rig up a fan/cooling system that turns on with the compressor. Basic 2X4 framing covered in T-111 will be coming eventually. The shed will also hide the drain line coming from the future shop sink running to the RV septic cap you can see just to the right of the form.

Decided I would add some vertical posts under the curved section of handrail mostly for looks . The curved rail itself was very solid and even without any support I could only deflect it about 1/8" vertically at the centre point but I didn't like that it wasn't totally solid and was unsure whether it cycling up and down with use would weaken the end connections so I introduced some little posts and decided since there was a lot of narrow black walnut elements in the newels that these vertical elements needed to be black walnut as well

Yes. Couldn't find a product to anchor 2X4's to the concrete that didn't involve drilling the concrete or trying to precisely set bolts in concrete. Figured the forming stakes would help to reinforce the pad being driven into the ground and would hold a fair amount of load with 1-5/8" wood screws going through the stake and into the wood. 3 or 4 screws each.

Do you have little kids? I'd be worried about them using it as points to hold on to etc.
Glueing end grain on side grain might not give you the strongest adhesion.

Fitting them was a bit of a bitch because of the helical nature of the wall cap and railing but once I established the compound mitre for the bottom that allowed them to stand plumb , I could mark the upper compound mitre on the side of them ( I cut them about 1/2" long to start ) , and because the smaller radius side of the wall cap and railing is a slightly shorter distance between railing and cap , I could just nibble off material until it was the correct length to be centred in the wall cap and handrail

To clamp them in position I first clamped the handrail down to a plywood block so there was no movement up or down ( I did that prior to fitting the little posts ) and them used painter's tape to position the posts and added a spring clamp top and bottom for an hour and 1/2
