I know your pain on the heavy I did my tops out of hard maple.
How are you mounting the top and allowing for movement? I'm interested to see how it moves with the season

Thanks , pretty happy with how it turned out

I plan on using some GRK 2" cabinet screws , I'm going to screw up into the top at the rearmost , wall side board , I'm then going to fix the front of the top with the same screws up through the cabinet tops but through an oversized hole in the cabinet

I'm hoping that the herringbone will eliminate any expansion / contraction weirdness in the corner and the hard fastening at the rear only will allow the countertop to breathe front to back

Looks good. Herringbone works for floors so it should work there. Take a few pictures with the tape across it to reference later.

So I temporarily removed the countertop so I could get up on the cabinets to work on the matching deep window sill

The window sill has become more of a pain in the ass than the countertop was primarily because each row is fitted between two fixed walls . My original plan was to fit the first row , cut the horns to length and biscuit , glue and clamp the corner making it into it's L shape , and then having done that , carry on fitting each row in turn and adding them to the front piece , unfortunately I realized while fitting row #2 that there was no way I would be able to get the piece physically in and out of the corner with it full width , which left me with 2 rows laminated and fitted , which are PL Premium'ed to the sub framing and the prospect of now fitting and gluing the final row with no means of clamping or using biscuits

Just getting this two row build up in to the opening caused some collateral damage to the drywall in the corners

I'll hopefully get row 3 fitted tomorrow , then I can reinstall the countertop and check another job off my list

I've got some corian sills to do for a customer. All the sills are deep.... poured concrete walls and most of the work in this water front million dollar plus home is shit... I have to template every sill and I'm just going to deal with what ever dry wall and paint damage I make to get a clean looking sill.

Well , thank God that's over with , got the final pieces fit and glued into place with the help of some shims , gizmos , jillpokes and magic

Quick hand sand tomorrow , re-install the countertop and onto the next project on the list of never ending
