Yea kids and drunk people are the 2 concerns. I don't have any kids but there are 2 5 year old neighbors that hang out regularly.

    It's a curse .

When I was designing / framing I pretty much put in every feature I've ever wanted to try building in this place and now I'm paying the price of actually finishing all those areas but I'm getting close to being totally done and it will be worth it when it's all said and done but I've been picking away at all these details for 6 years since we moved in and I think that's pretty much the extent of the marriage test I want to endure , lol

I live in a two story rancher with half the kitchen done in walnut the other half pos oak builder grade cabinets. Ive toned down a good bit of my plans as its to easy to overshoot the neighborhood. Which sucks because I enjoy more challanging custom work but I'd like to move in the next 5.

I'm looking for property to put a larger shop on and may just live above it in a big open steel building.

So I got my new wiring fished and pulled yesterday which ended up being a major pain in the ass , this morning I blocked out and mounted the ceiling box and finished up a few insulation details that I wouldn't be able to get at once the soffit was done .

After that I got the 6 "easy" boards installed and then managed to figure out my compound mitre angles for the next two rows on some volunteer scraps , hopefully if all goes well all the barrel vault boards will be on tomorrow

With the measuring scraps in place you can now see how the barrel resolves into the roof pitch and skylight well

I ran the 6 easy boards long into the skylight well and will use a soffit material scrap and my Fein to cut the barrel boards out in plane with the skylight well , forming the ellipse on that end

All that beautiful work and those cheap light sockets crack me up. I noticed one by the recently done railings too.

They are just temporary to get the electrical final , they get replaced with proper fixtures

Got the rest of the barrel vault finished

Next up is trim the boards left long and then apply the boards to the skylight well

The simple railing we did. And the deck is 2x6 select pt and not holding up well at all. I am starting to worry more and more about any pt lumber we've used since they made the big change.

The lumber seems to be OK in my experience , it's what ACQ does to the fasteners and hardware that is scary

Yes, and it was hard for a while (several years ago) to find the correct sort of stainless fasteners or Zmax Simpson brackets/fasteners down this way, but that seems to have improved. Not cheap, but at least available.

ZMax don't cut it up here , building inspection here wants to see stainless on decks that are re-wetted ( skip decking )
