Looks like the viess is heating the water and you're using the gray tank as a holding tank for the water. That's why you wouldn't see any cold spots. The issue I heard about was from people drawing water straight off the tankless heater. Every time you stop the water at the faucet and turn it back on you can run into a small cold pocket of water while the heater relights.

    Nice setup BTW

Thanks, the guys who installed it did a great job. You are correct, the water coming out of my faucets is not coming directly from the water heater so i wouldnt see those cold spots.

What's the benefits to use a tankless with its water going into a tank vs a tank heater? It's kind of the same concept as a tank heater, no?

I'm genuinely curious. It's not really saving space with the tank there. And as far as efficiency, I wouldn't think it'd be much better. My tank gas heater rarely kicks on unless water is turned on and cold water is introduced. It's new and very well insulated. I'm just wondering what the benefits of your set up is vs tank heater. Just seems as though the main benefits of tankless which is huge space saving is eliminated that way. :notsure:

The tank is acting as a buffer I assume

I need to replace mine in the spring. Electric..

It's expensive to use, hoping the new models are both more efficient in use and in electricity needs. They should be, mine is 23 years old and still works fine, but is expensive.

Yeah, but why not just use a tank heater there?

My tankless heater also heats the lines for my hydro air heating system. In my setup, room was not an issue as there is almost too much room in my basement where this is located. This allows for one small, efficient heating system to handle both the hot water for the house and the heating system at the same time, hence being more efficient and actually saving some room as well.

The tank operates like a normal water heater, maintains a temp in the tank. The tank has a temp sensor that fires the boiler, domestic hot water is heated via a heat exchanger.

No, water that goes through the tankless heater is a closed loop.

    I see

We did something somewhat similar with a geothermal system to provide domestic hot water via a heat exchanger in a large storage tank branched off of the hydronic floor heat system in a client house I built

Wow. Just messed with it shortly tonight and thus thing is impressive. It will hold itself on the wall. And once I had the settings right I didn't see dust.

Add the ct36ac too. If it preforms like they say the amount of time it will save will really add up. And I can't find a reliable drywall finisher so I'm doing more and more drywall.
