    -WeatherTech liners
Too many contrasting wood finishes in the room (excluding floor):
    -mantel
    -tv hutch
    -coffee table
    -end table(s)
    -book shelf

By having at least a uniform or complimentary furniture/fixture finish in the room, that would help.

Same with decor... picture frames, clock

My vote would be to do something like this:
im not a big fan of the tile they picked for around the fireplace but you could pick what ever you want for that

That is a really good idea! We use all sorts of free things we have gotten over the years but are planning on getting new furniture and tables with our returns this year.

I showed my wife that picture and she screamed "I love it!" That is a great idea too - thanks!

The tiles would actually stay up without the jig but wouldn't allow us to manipulate them into plane very easily . We set our 3 grounds to plane out with each other first and that ensured the ceiling field would plane out with the sloped door jamb when we got up to that point . The jillpoke was because we were getting about 1/8" of sluff in the middle of the lower panel near the top

...judging from the gable in the shower, i'm assuming this is a second story bathroom?.. curious what kind of joist and subfloor arrangement you put in this room... hopefully meets stiffness min, ...if I remember from reading john bridge forums years back, ...a L/720 max deflection spec for natural stone...

Yes its in the roof of the second story , joists on the second floor are Select Structural DFir2x12 on 16" centres , in the ensuite I dropped down to 2x10 to allow for the 2" 32MPA hydronic heated thin slab over framing , the shower is dropped again to 2x8 to allow for a curbless shower pan to plane out with the top of the heated slab , span is only 10' in that area , plus Ditra

...the 2x8 (16" O.C.), i'd imagine that is code in Canada?.. span is supported from below where the joist system step-down transition occurs?...

Floor joist code is dictated by the Span Tables which are in turn determined by lumber species / span / loading / on centre spacing , but in short , yes they meet code for that span

The joists run end to end and parallel to each other so where there is a drop down in size , there was a step in the floor during framing

ie ~ the bottom of the joists are at the same elevation / sit on the same wall plane

@OZ-T What grout are you planning on going with, our master is carrera marble similar to the bianco you chose. I wish we went with an epoxy grout to help with the grout staying cleaner and not staining, but we ended up using a sanded grout with stain blocker, but its not really blocking anything and requiring a lot of cleaning.

We're going to use an unsanded Mapei grout , likely Warm Grey

    Did you seal yours ?

we did, but we also went with a white grout which i am wishing we went with grey instead. But you live and you learn. Its also hard to find a decent cleaner that is safe with the marble tile.

Roofers came today. Said I had a half dozen nails poking through the roof shingles and some flashing that was not properly installed.

Hoping it's all good now. Atleast until spring when my roof gets fully replaced.

    Agreed.

I'm now left hoping that the new roof replacement crew is better than the previous one.
