Get a couple cans of derp and try and make it look like marble.

If it sucks, you can just peel it off! :woot:

    What year is the house?

Sheetrock is cheap. Knowing what I know and Pete says the same...... faster to start it from clean studs. How are your taping skills?

Take an area of tile out with a hammer and chisel just for the hell of it.... see how it goes. The first tile will be the hardest ;)

MA here and all about blue and plaster. My kitchen had drywall under paneling and we did the blue skim, except greenboard and tile for kitchen sink backsplash

If I took it to studs would that require taking the shower out

Wifey poo dropped a nail set down the heating duct. I can't see it or get it with a 12" flexible pickup.

What size do pickups go up to and flex?

Really need the ducts vacced out, what's the odds that would get it? Don't care about recovering the tool I just don't want it in there

    No

If you didn't like the shower color, that;s different.

The shower stays in place the whole time.... just keep it protected.

Supply side? just vac it out and find what you were looking for in the bag (use a new bag for this :D)

Returns are the ducts that are usually nastier.

    So step 1 find hammer
    Step 2 remove drywall
Step 3 insulate because its probably poor
Step 4 install moisture resistant drywall
    Step 5 install exhaust fan
    Step 6 paint
Step 7 use fan so I don't have to open my window and let my neighbors see the goods

Supply I presume, the heat blows out of it.

Damn vent is so tiny I can't get my regular or Shop Vac hose in there, rectangular and maybe 3 inches front-back.

Would a burner service company have the tool for it? Really don't want to mess with the duct in the basement

Chris, what was it she dropped in there?

I'd disconnect the duct in the basement and get it out if you can't get it from the register.

I'm not shitting you.... and it didn't look bad AT ALL.

A painter I knew didn't want the expense of re-tiling his bathroom, so he washed it down with some mild acid stuff (don't know what it was), rinsed and dried. He masked off the bathroom and sprayed the tile a different color..... I couldn't believe how good it looked, clean too.
