1947. looking for a name on it. Found P&S stamped on it so I think you are right about the manufacturer.

Don't know what that is but I do have a relay panel in the basement. The wiring is all in flexible conduit.

I think that would be asbestos coated wiring....

Knob and tube wiring is two-stranded with a hot wire and a neutral wire only it uses no ground wire. There is absolutely no protection whatsoever when a fault occurs and very common with 2 prong outlets.

Is that panel knife style switches?

Standard breaker switches. Installed in 1997. I saw your response about white, black and green wires but I have white black and red. How would that convert to the black, white green wiring?

I am thinking that maybe the red wire is a traveler to another outlet or switch does that switch/outlet power anything else of is it end of circuit?

Do you have a multi meter?

I don't think it powers anything else. I do have a multimeter. The red wire was attached to the jumper wire on one side of the switch that continued to one side of the outlet. The black wire was on the orher side of the switch and the white wire on the other side of the outlet.

If that's the case then the red wire is the switch leg for something else, likely another receptacle in the area. Black is hot, white is neutral.

That burn mark has me concerned. That old wiring is a pain in the ass to work with. Try to move it around as little as possible. That insulation falls apart pretty easy. I'd tape that up really good where you see any cracks or wearing on it. But tread lightly with it, like I said.

I've got a question for you guys. I'm working on my bathroom and have the plumbing roughed in (my contractor did that part). I'm using a Kohler pressure balance valve and a diverter valve. I have 3 shower devices roughed in that are fed by that diverter: a hand wand, rain shower head and a wall mounted shower head. I'm fairly tall and like a high shower head (why is the standard to mount those things so damn low?!) so the wall mount will be about 7' off the finished shower floor. This was done in the summer.

Skip forward to now and I've been involved with someone who will likely be moving in sometime later this year. The issue is she is petite - about 5'1" - and the 7' shower head isn't going to work for her. Rather than move it down, which I really don't want to do as I hate having shower heads at forehead height, I'm thinking I could add another shower head at a lower height using the port for the tub filler fixture, which I currently have capped off (no tub).

I'm having difficulties interpreting the language in the instructions as to whether this will work or not. If not, why? The tub filler is downstream of the mixing valve so the only thing I can think of is a possible pressure issue? I've inclued a diagram and some valve schematics below. It's the wording of the Installation Notes that I'm looking at.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

It's a hair thing. Sometimes it's neeing a shower without getting the hair wet. Water falling from above makes it hard to avoid that. She uses the shower wand in the guest shower now but it's not ideal. We can get by, but since the walls are open and material would only be about $50 I figured why the heck not? Score some points with Ms. Petite and get more shower nookie! Anyway, I think there is an issue using the tub filler as a shower head with the way the valve works, just don't get what it is.

You could always get one of those hand helds that attaches to the existing showerhead stem

The wand I have plummed for is mounted on a sliding bar so it can be adjusted up and down, but it's just a fixed spray, doesn't put out a lot of water or a comfortable pattern. It will work but an adjustable shower head mounted low, although not necessary, would be nicer. This is my guest bath with the sliding bar, rain head and tub filler. No wall mounted head in this one.

Yes. In both showers. You can see the schematics in post #6747, Mastershower Three way/Two way Transfer valve. It's awesome - can have any 1 of 3 heads run on its own or some combo of two of them at the same time.

In our shower I put in 2 mixers because my wife likes the water a different temp than me , plus a diverter on my side for 2 body sprays

You could add a mixer and additional shower head off of your main supply lines to the shower if you have sufficient volume

That's a good idea... I'll have to think about that but it may just be more $ and complexity than I need at this point.
