its like quartz/marble... called Red Rock (go figure right).... its strong for a stone, but it scratches very easily.

So after feeling the weight of those timbers on my body all weekend I rigged up my chain hoist to the wrought iron railing above my work area to lift the timbers onto and off of the sawhorses , this means I can pull them out on the concrete slab with rollers and then just lift them with the hoist , place the sawhorses underneath and lower the timber onto the sawhorses . Much easier than using the Hi Lift one end at a time .

I figured it would be bad manners to rip the railing out of the deck overhang so I used a 4x6 that was laying around to support the railing making an A frame of sorts

The hoist worked great , got the first timber done , tested the fit of the braces and then stashed it back into the shop

I got the big 8x14 out and up on the horses , tomorrow I'll rip it to 8x12 then cut the joinery on it too

Nice view from my work space today

Can I come hang out and do some timber framing. My commercial project I've been at since June just funded a whole other phase that was never planned and I'm going story crazy.

What do you use, I've done a lot of solid surface work but nothing in the stone.

I use a 4in diamond blade, variable makita grinder for most of the cutting work. I swap to wet pads for polishing, and corbits for my OCD.. some of the bigger/longer cuts were done on skilsaw.

im the opposite of you. I am a stone mason. but ill dabble in light carpentry work.

I dont always play with wood, but when I do... I make sure its first thing in the morning!!

this is the master shower, u can see the color in the stone... if you look back a few pages, the tub deck I had to wrap was a PITA... but the color on that one is nice... too bad 90% of the stone came out mismatched lol.

    Huh , interesting

I did a bunch of edge polishing and shaping pencils with marble for my ensuite and the wet polisher worked awesome besides the whole having to wear raingear part

    Thank you!
It's a small tub, lid is light enough and I'm not a huge fan of those things. (aesthetically speaking)

No pictures at this point as there really isn't, nor will there be much to see when I am done, but I have finished digging a 60' x 4' deep trench around a portion of my foundation. Major major bitch to complete solo with just a shovel in clay soil. Properly graded for drainage, water barrier laid, corrugated sleeved pipe in, gravel backfilled. Now I just need to get landscape fabric over the top, rebuild the sprinkler system, and cover with dirt grading away from the foundation.
