    Any electricians in the house

Planning on adding an AC outlet in my closet

After testing every outlet/light numerous times I've found two of my breakers do nothing. One does a a majority of the outlets and lights in the house.

Appears to have two wires in that one. Also have two that seem to do nothing. Although they both have wires in them.

I don't plan on moving wires, but curious of why the nothing breakers have wires but yet don't control anything.

Something you may have overlooked. Is there anything in your attic that may be on those breakers? I know I have a separate breaker for the lights and furnace and such in my attic.

I didn't check appliances but most of those look labeled (who knows how correct it is) to individual 20 amp breakers

    Nothing in my attic

One thing I would love to fix is the garage outlets share the house outlets, so power tools sometimes flicker lights. How nice it would be to have the garage separate

Try remove the wire (carefully) from the "nothing" breaker and check the wire for voltage. Somebody may have installed them to complete a 240V circuit.

Some better pictures would help. Can't really see anything because it's so dark. And your drawing I can't even read what you wrote.

I'm not an electrician, but I am a power lineman so I see a lot of residential and commercial electric panels. I've never seen more than one wire on a breaker, unless it was a 2 pole breaker (to add a circuit when your panel doesn't have any room for another breaker).

I would try to trace them the best you can. Idk if they disappear behind Sheetrock or not. It's even possible they just run to a junction box somewhere for a project that was never completed.

As far as having separate garage circuits, go for it. As long as you have some room in the panel get some 12/2 and a 20 amp breaker and get to work.

I put up a gate where God never intended a gate to go. I had a bitch of a time trying to find a way to anchor the posts without messing up sprinkler lines. Turned out OK. Definitely enough to keep my dog in the lower yard away from the garden.

Good score for me today .

The job where I did the berry house are long time clients , I've worked for them off and on for almost 15 years . I did a big addition / renovation on their 1942 house in 2007 plus built them a cabin and a couple outbuildings over the years . The original house has some curved eaves and there was an existing flat roofed shed dormer on an end of the house that was outside of our scope of work on the rest of the house . As we were almost done after about 11 months , the lady of the house decided she wanted us to convert the flat dormer to a curving roof like some of the other areas of the house , but the husband was adamant that we weren't going to rip into the just finished 24" heavy butt cedar shake roof to do that .

I played Switzerland in this debate and suggested we hold off for a bit as at this point it was going to be the same amount of work to do it now as it would be to do it later , plus I wanted to get out of there cause I had been there for almost a year and wanted to start my own house .

The original house has really beefy facia boards , they're 2 1/2" thick by 8" .

The lady of the house , undeterred by this setback had me calculate the size of the boards we would need to cut the curved facias for the curved dormer roof we would definitely be doing in the future , which I did and had 2 matching 16' long , 2 1/2" x 16" blanks milled from a 6"x16"x16' clear fine grain WRC timber I got from my timber guy , which were then stickered and stored in garage / storage building at their property with a bit of other rag tag material I use for little projects they get me to do , projects like the berry house addition .

Anyways , long story short , they're hosting their daughter's wedding at their property this summer and they wanted that building cleaned out .

The man of the house took me aside about a week ago as I started doing a bit of work there and said the statute of limitations had run out on the curved dormer roof and he wanted me to ~

" store that curved facia material somewhere else wink wink "

. I was like " store it somewhere else , never to return ? "

" yes , you can have them , we're never doing that curved roof , like I said 10 years ago . "

    He smiled . I smiled .

I've been drooling over these boards for almost 10 years now , haha

    :woot:

    Nice.

Pete just come down here and build out my place. I'm just dreading finding a contractor who approaches work like you. Of course, I probably would be destitute from the labor charges. But I know I wouldn't be finding poorly executed details for years to come. Sigh.

    LOL fixed it. WOULD NOT.

If I want to find flaws with your work, I'm sure I'd have to use a set of machinist's feeler gauges and/or other very expensive calibrated equipment.

Or I'd just look at everything and say "the left side is low."
