scrap up the white thinset, and check the main concrete flooring for cracks... after all, the house is old.

For a temporary fix until you get to correct the root of the problem you could use construction adhesive. @OZ-T has already stated a way to begin investigation into the root cause/fix of strengthening/immobilizing from below.

Based on Google Earth historic imagery, I'm guessing sometime around 2002.

Its great but heavy as shit , you have to beef up all the roof framing and lateral restraint solutions

i snapped some pics last night. i need to clean up the cobwebs for sure.

this is the top of the foundation wall that separates one side of the basement from the other. the previous owner coated it heavily with that drylock stuff
    0AA21763-9947-4E2D-99E7-1A6AFFFC3D50_zps_315205f2e58ef8336cb2aab520e082692da0aae9.jpg

    looking up and over

this is the area right below the trouble spot.

the floor joists legit 2x8's, about 16.5" O.C. give or take a quarter inch.

i pushed the old floor, there was no give to it. i'm starting to think its a subfloor issue?

Are there screws like that anywhere else underneath? Seems for whatever reason he may have just had to replace those tiles and the backerboard, and did a piss poor job. :notsure:

just in the area of the kitchen. i'm assuming from the subfloor.

i should post pictures of all of the gems i've found with this house, you guys would get a kick out of it. unrelated to this tile issue, on the other side of the house he tried to repoint the foundation on the inside in one corner. his material of choice? .....spray foam insulation.....

So im going to be building a deck shortly off the back of my house. My question is, with the following layout, how many footings will i need. Do i just need 3 on the top side of the deck or will i need some in the middle as well? We plan to build a screened in porch on top of it next year.

You going to need to give them more info like the size floor joists you're using.

You are right, forgot about that. They will most likely be 2x8's unless i can get away with 2x10's
