It's going to need some framing under the sheet to support it. Otherwise it will bow and free to much under load.

I built a bed cover for my 92 ranger. Plywood with a framed 2" on center then 2x legs down to the bed. Youll need to add something to keep the legs in place either a angle bracket or additional lumber. You can also put a hinge on the plywood so you can access underneath easier. The one I built was flush with the top of the bed and coverd with a black vinyl.

plan on it being a foot off the bed
trying to limit the frame because I don't want it to interfere with storage underneath.

It still needs a frame otherwise it will not work. It needs something to help it. A 2x3 or 2x4 on the flat way will help. Angle iron anything.

so i was trying to figure out the legs

but in between the wheel wells I planned on having a foot or so runner that hugged the wheel wheel to support the middle on each side

My solution for secure in bed storage. Top is Hurculined, drawer is full extension slides, front locks,(obviously) rear has barrel locks with locking tailgate. It will hold at least 1500#. Only draw back is it is not water proof.

Guys, are you still allowed to use railroad ties at your house? I am looking at building up a low area and using old railroad ties for the property line edging, just not sure about the chemicals that the old tie used.
I will back fill with dirt and then probably cover with 3/4 gravel

They are coated in Creosote. Technically (via the EPA) Creosote is not approved for use in residential uses (gardens, retaining walls, ect). You might have local laws regarding their use you need to look into as well.

Personally I wouldnt use them if its anywhere near where pets, kids, gardens, ect are going to be close ot them. But thats just me. Also take precautions with handling it.

So decision made , my local batch plant will sell me a bag of Xypex admixture so I'm going to add that to my concrete mix as well as painting the steels , I've got the first 7 post jigs installed , plumbed and braced , gonna finish the 8th today then start painting them , hope to have them all in and poured by the end of the week

Finally got around to installing new lights outside my garage door that match the lights I installed last year when I installed new entry & storm door.

Changed our front yard out to (Free) wood chips from the city and redesigned our planters. Lots of fun "truck stuff" with this project, loving the 6 ft bed.

Kinda, my lawn died when we bought the house last summer and I hate mowing a half dead lawn. Its such a crapshoot to have grass here because its 110 during the summer so we went to a more tropical look and way less water / maintenance. I have a pest control company spray the ground so far no issues.

Did the other side last winter, now I just need to build the second half of the planters to match
