This one was a year ago. I only did the sink and faucet installation though. The paint, mirror and light fixture as well.

Yes, meant interlocking. Gonna look good.

I've done a couple bedrooms and hallway in my house too. Nice upgrade from nasty old carpet.

Did you nail or glue the baseboard?

I just used brad nails, no glue. The previous baseboards were both glued and nailed, but I have yet to see any risk with just using brad nails. If there was a small piece, I might consider using glue (construction adhesive).

Finished it off with a bead of caulk.

Was a pita to remove the old baseboard as they used what appeared to be a shit ton of construction adhesive. Had to do some repair to the drywall haha.

    removed baseboard

Vessel sinks sure are beautiful to look at. Had one in my last home. Hated to actually use it... It was truly a PITA.

Yea I was surprised how hard it was to remove the baseboard, while trying to not completely destroy the drywall.

Most will glue and nail. I probably should have too, but thought I might need to one day replace the baseboards again, so I left an easy way to replace later.

No glue here, only on corners. Brads everywhere else.

About 8 years ago I owned a home in Bridgeport WV built in 1972, and all the trim was really nice solid oak ranch profile, tall and thick (couldn't find anyone that had a set up to make that anymore). All the baseboard and door trim was perfectly cope trimmed. I know ranch profile is not fancy, nor hard to cope cut, but this trim had literally no defects that i could tell. Each inside corner-perfect. Door trim- perfect.

The baseboard was nailed twice with 2" finishing nails. Once in a stud, then toe nailed into the plate. Each nail perfectly punch sunk and filled, then stained. You could hardly tell where the nails were.

I had to remove it to run new hardwood flooring, and I was sick when I could not salvage it. I tried gently prying, I tried a sawzall, I tried single hand hacksaw. I was really bummed to break it apart.

Hard to find quality trim work like that these days... at least in my neck of the woods.

It had to have been an older guy that learned trim work in the 1950's and 1960's. You could tell it was all hand cut, each piece cut to fit.

I was really bummed. We almost gave up on installing hardwood and opt for a laminate in an effort to not have to remove it. It was really that tough of a call. I hate destroying a craftsman's work. Just made me sick.

I totally get the respect factor for old school craftsmanship , I try to carry on that tradition in my work too , this is the kind of work I do
