All mine is on bare drywall as well but it's only one sheet. It's been on since the house was built in 1976. The lady who put it up was very good. It's very difficult to see the seams. I think it was all quality stuff though. Perhaps that's why it comes off so cleanly. The DIF solution works well at getting it off. You spray it on with a bug sprayer or spray bottle, let it sit for 15-30 minutes and it comes right off, often in whole sheets. It also helps with removal of the glue underneath. The only downside is it's a bit messy.

 

What kind of floor is it ? Hard 2 tell by the pic. Thanks.

 

It's a vinyl plank (Allure) from Home Depot. It's a self sticking floating floor. I believe the color is Country Oak. It was an in-stock color. They have another we liked (Iron Wood), but you had to special order it.

 

performed my annual cleaning of my clothes dryers venting. several years ago, a friend of mine suffered substantial damage to his basement (where his laundry room was located), and subsequently to his 1st floor, due to what the fire inspector determined was a plugged dryer exhaust vent. i have performed this cleaning/routine maintenance annually for years, completely removing the exhaust system and fully eliminating any lint. I would highly recommend it to everyone

Thanks. I just put in a floating floor - Pergo. It isn't self sticking. How does a self sticking floor float ? I had to leave a gap around the outside edges for it to expand - did you ? How does it float under a toilet ? I'm thinking of doing the bathroom but don't know how to treat the toilet situation. Thanks.

 

Make a paper template of floor, lay the floating floor on top of the paper template, then make the marks and measurements for the cuts. Pull floor back apart and do a final install. Time consuming but if you do it right the first time you will pat yourself o the back later.

 

Plus if you are unfortunate to have galvanized pipe supplying it, rusty granules of corroded pipe. This settles on the bottom and the rust gets fresh food (the bottom of your tank). And also particles from the sacrifical anode.

 

...some folks drain the tank on a regular basis, like once a year, to try and get the mineral deposit buildup out - basically these deposits can build up over time at the bottom of the tank, and corrode the tank and can reduce the effeciency of the heating element... i.e. goal is to try and get longer life out of the water heater w/ this routine maintenance...'

i drained mine a year ago, ...didn't see much stuff come out, ..just some little flakes (looked like gelatin), white in color...

 

It sticks to itself so it becomes one big tile. There's a portion of the tile that is adhesive (about 1" border around the tile plank). One side the adhesive points up and the other it points down.

Thanks. Mine just snaps together - no adhesive. Did you run it under or around the toilet ?

 

Under. I've removed the older toilet and am going to replace it with a newer low-flow unit. I did leave a small gap around the wall but it's thin enough that it could actually slip under the drywall. I'll cover the gap with floor moulding. I've never done laminate but if you can, I'd pull the toilet and tire around the smaller opening. You'll need a new wax ring and you'll want to plug the pipe with a rag while you work around it to keep the sewer gas down. Since the toilet will cover it, you don't need the hole to be perfect.

 

What's the point in heating hot water? Isn't it already hot? Seems like wasted energy to me.
