There must be one hell of a view or something to go through all the trouble of building on top of a rock.

Dig anywhere around here thats what you're likely to find , its exactly the same building process once the foundation is poured

One advantage to composite decking is less issues with water. I did my pool deck with it and no problems 6 yrs later..plus no splinters. I know you said you aren't staying there but just another advantage.

Are you guys on mostly granite out there ? We have some granite and conglomerate but this site is sandstone which is nice cause we can drill our own holes for doweling in the rebar etc

Current project I'm doing. Laundry use to be in the garage. I wanted to move it inside and we never use our fire place here in California so removed it and added some garage storage with a little office space and laundry space.

    Before shot

Hand drawn plans lol looking at it

    And how it sits currently
    IMG_3672.jpg
Just finished painting this past weekend!
Still need to finish up the office side then install new flooring no more carpet! Also once it's done it will have a set of "barn" doors on both sides.

All work has been done by me with the exception of applying the laminate for the counter above the laundry but it was cut and installed by myself.

Had my little brother come over and help just me and him were able to get it all the way down and cleaned up in a day took us about 7 hours. I paid him via letting him sell the brick off
    IMG_3676.jpg
All said and done we had about two and a half stacks this size of brick

We did composite in New Orleans and loved it!

Trying to keep expenses down but do decent improvements. Our deck stays pretty frosted in cool weather, very slick. My ass has met it a couple times this week... I think the composite will not be any different... the product we're going to put dish has a bit of texture to it. Maybe that will help a bit.

I'm looking at moving my washer and dryer from the basement to the main floor, and take some space from the living room to add a laundry closet.

    Nice job.

Not sure really but same shit, can't dig a foot without hitting them

Mine has some texturing like a woodgrain to it. Never use it in cold weather so frost may be an issue but water is not.

I understand why you did this, but as someone who has heated with wood his whole life, this pains me greatly. At least you did good work!

I can't speak for all of new England but in area I'm from alone and have visited it is a lot of granite, but I've seen a ton of slate and sandstone as well. Even within a few miles of each other.

Yea we never used it in 3 years and even if we wanted to local restrictions hamper using conventional fire places on most days anyways most people have converted theirs to inserts and gone away from wood up here
