OZ....do you not own a trailer?....seems like it would be easier.

Yeah... I bought a 5x10 that is rated for 2000lbs...best purchase ever..problem is the trailer is rated for more weight than my truck. I use it for all the heavy stuff...waaay easier on my back.

Agreed on the trailer... in my younger days I never understood why people preferred trailers. Now I am all about having a trailer handle all the abuse of capacity loading. I'd suggest looking into a trailer that has a tongue that is adjustable length so that you can handle 20' lumber when needed.

My dad has a tri-axel when I need to haul long stuff. My 4 banger can't tow it, but the 1 ton dump or the Seirra Denali has no trouble with it. In the spring, I will be using it to haul trees I am taking to the local lumber mill to get some rough cut boards made for a project.

I can haul 20's on my cap rack , done it lots of times , if I need more material than I can carry or heavy long timbers I'll just get a delivery but a trailer would be great for normal framing length materials ( ie up to 14's ) form ply and firewood etc

I have hauled long material on my racks. I even put all my deck materials on it when I built it. It was really sketchy,as I knew I overloaded the racks. Now I just haul lighter stuff on them like pvc pipe or drain tile.

    That's sweet!
My 5x10 weighs about 1000lbs wish it was aluminum. I bought it for 400 bucks off a
Plumber that used it for hauling boilers. I had to redo everything on it but I only have 500 into the whole thing.IMG_0667.jpg

This guy builds custom sizes etc and I plan on getting a removeable tarp / lumber rack and a drop gate that can be latched open at the same height as the deck to essentially add 2' or so to the deck length

Aluminum is great for a trailer that will be towed with our trucks. I have an aluma A888 and it only weighs 475lbs. I can easily move it around the yard by hand, and you can't even tell it's there when towing it. Fits 2 quads, but I like it for sheet goods and stuff like that too.

I see a great inspector, and the most important tool on the job behind him/her.
