Anyone have any recommendations for over the range microwave ventilation? I was under the impression the ventilation in the microwave and the charcoal filter was all I needed but now my electrician is recommending vent ductwork through the cabinets and up to the roof.

OK, quick question for you home improvement buffs.... House we bought 2 years ago has tile in the kitchen. However, they either did a terrible job grouting it, got cheap grout, or my floor is too flexible for the grout to hold up over a long period of time.

My question to you is, is there a more suitable type of grout to a floor that flexes more than the average floor? Or, a different mixture ratio to the grout when mixing it to make it better? Also, what would be the best way to remove some of the grout already there to spread new stuff?

Lol...I really have no clue how I acquired it. I did have a brother in law that worked there...so I will stick to that excuse.

I have like four of those in my garage

 

Got osb and tar paper on roof today, also window and door is in, also wrapped the outside.....boards on roof are just there to hold edges of paper down until the tin goes on

Should get soffits and hardy plank siding on tomorrow

Imo not bad for 3 people and 16 total hours

 

Like OZ said vent outside, but I would go through the wall, not the roof. Shorter run (better air flow and much easier install), and no hole in your roof.

 

How often will you use the vents? I don't fry stuff a lot, so I mainly use mine when boiling big pots of water....if this is the case with you, do what I did and use the re-circulation setup( don't know what it's called, seemed appropriate)...no holes. If you expect a lot of grease to get in there, go out the wall or roof.

 

Assuming the wall the fan is mounted to is an exterior wall

 

Exhausting water vapour is important too

 

Lol....I almost said that because he said his electrician said through the roof...in my house the microwave hood is essentially in the off/middle of house.

 

Not with 14' ceilings...at least in my mind.
